League Two AFC Wimbledon take on League One side Oxford United in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy third round at the Cherry Red Records Stadium on Tuesday night (19:45), with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.

Both sides head into this fixture off the back of defeats in the FA Cup third round last weekend. AFC Wimbledon were beaten 3-1 at home by Championship high-flyers Ipswich Town, while Oxford were hammered 6-2 at Coventry City.

They have both been very impressive in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy so far this term and we could be in for an exciting encounter in SW17.

AFC Wimbledon vs Oxford United Betting Tips

  • Oxford and both teams to score - 3/1
  • Oxford to score in both halves - 21/10

Match Odds

These two teams both offer value in winning the tie in 90 minutes. AFC Wimbledon are priced at 9/5, while Oxford are 6/5. If you think these sides will be separated by a penalty shoot-out, you can back a draw at 12/5.

Both these teams have scored in all but one of their matches in this competition so far. It is 4/7 for them both to get on the scoresheet in this encounter. Over 2.5 goals is marketed at 8/11, which has landed in three of their Bristol Street Motors Trophy appearances collectively this term.

Team News

The Dons will be without duo Ali Al-Hamadi and Omar Bugiel, who are both on international duty. Josh Neufville is out injured while Joe Lewis is a doubt to feature due to illness.

Alex Pearce will be monitored ahead of Tuesday's fixture after the defender was forced off in the first half of their FA Cup clash with Ipswich over the weekend. Although he was sent off against the Tractor Boys, Harry Pell will be eligible to play against Oxford and his one-match suspension will be served in Wimbledon's next league clash against Crawley Town.

Oxford have a lengthy injury list to contend with heading into this one with Sam Long, Greg Leigh, Josh Murphy, Kyle Edwards, Stephan Negru and Marcus Browne all sidelined.

Oxford and both teams to score @ 3/1

The U's may be missing some key players for this game but we fancy their chances to qualify for the quarter-finals. Part of this is down to them being in a higher division than the hosts, in which they are flying, but also because they have boasted an impressive away record in this competition so far.

Oxford have beaten Northampton Town and Forest Green Rovers on their travels already, and they will believe that they can add AFC Wimbledon to their list of victims. Their striker Mark Harris has been enjoying this competition so far with three goals to his name, but they also have Tyler Goodrham to depend on in front of goal, who was the match-winner against Forest Green in the last round.

If both feature, the hosts will have a difficult evening defensively as both have quality to hurt them if they make any kind of mistake. However, the Dons have a secret weapon of their own. Striker Josh Davison has also found the back of the net on three occasions in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy, and he could disrupt Oxford's game plan.

Oxford to score in both halves @ 21/10

We will be hoping that both Harris and Goodrham bring their shooting boots to Wimbledon on Tuesday because we like the look of the 21/10 price on Oxford to score on both halves. They have managed this feat twice in this competition already this term, which is strengthened by the fact that they have scored in both halves in 18 of their fixtures in all competitions this season.

So there is great value in this particular market and should be considered when taking a look at this match. It also helps when it has landed in their last two outings, so 21/10 is an excellent price.
