West Ham United vs Wolves Bet Builder Tips: 20/1 shot on entertaining clash

This Premier League clash between two strugglers has already been dubbed El Sackico. West Ham United host Wolves on Monday night (20:00, Sky Sports Main Event), knowing that a defeat could well spell the end of the road for Julen Lopetegui, who only replaced David Moyes in the summer.

Meanwhile Gary O’Neil in the opposite dugout has lost the support of a lot of the Wolves fanbase, and his side were booed off as they lost 4-0 to Everton last time out. It means this game has a whole lot riding on it, and below you will find my West Ham United vs Wolves Bet Builder Tips.

West Ham to win

I’m going to have to back the home side to win this game, but I think it will be a nervy atmosphere at the London Stadium on Monday night. The Hammers have more individual quality in their ranks and ultimately I think that will see them through against a Wolves side that cannot find any level of consistency so far this season.

The Hammers have only won two of their seven home matches so far and although I’m not a massive fan of Lopetegui and don’t think he will be a long-term success in East London, he can hold on to his job for another week with a win. Wolves have only won one of their seven away league games, conceding 18 goals in the process, and that 4-0 defeat at Everton sent alarm bells ringing. I’ll plump for a home win to kick us off.

BTTS

11 of Wolves’ 14 Premier League matches this season have ended with both teams on the scoresheet, giving them a success rate of 79 per cent. That defeat to Everton was a rarity as they failed to score, but they’ve had defeats with scorelines this season of 6-2, 5-3 and 4-2. Goalscoring isn’t too much of a problem - they’ve scored 11 goals in their seven away games to date, but they can’t keep the ball out of their own net.

I think we will see a pretty entertaining match at the London Stadium, with goals at both ends. The Hammers have seen BTTS come in during nine of their 14 outings, which puts them well above average at 64 per cent. The stats suggest that there will be goals, so let’s add BTTS to the mix.

West Ham United vs Wolves Odds

Jarrod Bowen and Matheus Cunha to score

Two star men, and I’m going to back both to score in this one. Let’s start with Matheus Cunha, who is a complete superstar in my eyes. He’s scored seven goals for Wolves this season, a total that no player on either team can match, while he has also been prolific in terms of shots.

Cunha has fired in 39 shots in total, with 14 of them on target. That means half of his shots on target have ended in goals, and I’m happy to back him to lead the charge for the away side again here. Meanwhile, Wolves’ defensive woes mean I am going to back Jarrod Bowen to find the net for the home side.

Bowen has only scored three goals in 14 appearances this term and will want to improve that particular statistic, but he has been getting shots away with 34 in total and 15 on target. If he keeps that rate of shots up, the goals will soon flow, and I’m backing him to take advantage of this battered Wolves backline on Monday.

Over 49.5 booking points

I also think we could see a fairly feisty encounter between these two. There is so much riding on this game that I cannot see either team going down without a fight, and these two won’t mind picking up a few bookings. West Ham currently sit 15th in the Fair Play table with 32 yellows and two reds so far this term, while Wolves have picked up 36 yellows and no reds.

That leads me to believe that we will see a scrappy affair under the lights with several yellow cards shown. I’ll add over 49.5 booking points to our Bet Builder, to give us a price of 20/1.
