Swansea were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Wycombe in midweek, so Liam Williams’ troops will want to get back on track as they travel to the Hawthorns on Saturday to face West Brom (15:00).

Meanwhile the Baggies enjoyed a quiet midweek after their first round exit to Fleetwood, and will have enjoyed their week on the training ground after a 2-1 success over Stoke on Saturday. You can find my West Brom vs Swansea prediction down below.

West Brom vs Swansea Betting Tips

  • West Brom to win @ 4/5
  • WBA win to nil and Josh Maja to score @ 6/1

Team News

Carlos Corberan isn’t expected to ring the changes for this one as he appears to have a relatively settled XI. Josh Maja continued his fine goalscoring form last weekend and will start up front, while Karlan Grant and John Swift supporting him. Tom Fellows is drawing interest late in the window but he will start if he remains at the club on the right wing, while arguably the Championship’s best goalkeeper Alex Palmer will continue in the Baggies’ goal.

Swansea didn’t manage a single shot on target at home to Wycombe, so I don’t expect Williams will be all that happy with the players who came into the team for that one. Liam Cullen should lead the line again, with Ben Cabango and Harry Darling reuniting at the heart of the defence. An improved Swans performance is needed.

West Brom vs Swansea Odds

West Brom are the favourites to win this game at 4/5, while Swansea can be backed at 3/1. A draw is available at 12/5, over 2.5 goals is 10/11 and BTTS is also 4/5.

West Brom to win @ 4/5

I am unlikely to back against Carlos Corberan in the Championship, truthfully. I think that tactically, he is the best manager at this level and he should be able to get the better of a Swansea outfit that is still finding its way under Williams. Now, I also rate the former Notts County boss, but he isn’t on the same level as Corberan.

WBA lost four key players this summer in the form of Brandon Thomas-Asante, Connor Townsend, Cedric Kipre and Okay Yokuslu. But Corberan had coped with those departures superbly well, and found replacements where needed. Maja has become a goalscoring sensation up top, and West Brom should be contesting for a play-off spot again come May.

WBA win to nil and Josh Maja to score @ 6/1

I’ll back West Brom to win this game, and I’ll also back them to keep things tight at the back. Corberan is a defensive coach, and that is how he likes to win games of football, plus they have already kept Leeds United at bay this term.

I’ll also back Maja to find the net again, having scored four goals in three games so far. He’s really found his feet now at the Hawthorns, so I’m happy to back him in a West Brom win to nil at 6/1.
