West Bromwich Albion welcome Millwall to The Hawthorns on Saturday (15:00) in the EFL Championship, looking to bounce back from two straight defeats. The Baggies do remain fourth in the table and are only two points behind league leaders Sunderland.

Millwall are 16th in the table and have found consistency an issue so far this term. They fell to a 1-0 defeat against bottom-of-the-table Cardiff City in midweek, so this will be deemed a tougher test for them. Read on for my West Brom vs Millwall prediction, accompanied by match odds and team news.

West Brom vs Millwall Betting Tips

  • Josh Maja anytime goalscorer @ 8/5
  • Casper De Norre to receive a card @ 4/1

West Brom vs Millwall Odds

West Brom are 10/11, or a 52.4% chance, to take the three points. Millwall are valued at 13/5, giving them an implied probability of 27.8%. The draw can be backed at 9/4 (30.8%).

Both teams to score is on offer at 1/1 and over 2.5 goals is marketed at 5/4.

Albion forward Josh Maja is the leading marksman in the second tier with seven goals already, and he is 4/1 to open the scoring on Saturday. Millwall's Duncan Watmore has five for himself and he is 8/1 to score first, or 16/5 to find the back of the net at any stage during the match.

Team News

Despite slipping to two defeats in a row, Baggies boss Carlos Corberan is likely to stick with his two main centre-backs in Semi Ajayi and Kyle Bartley. Jed Wallace started for the first time this season against Middlesbrough last time out, but it is unlikely he will keep his place with young star Tom Fellows back in contention.

Striker Daryl Dike remains sidelined with the Achilles injury he picked up in February.

For Millwall, Aidomo Emakhu will continue to serve the three-game suspension he picked up in their win over Preston North End last month. Forward Josh Coburn, who is on loan from Boro, remains in the treatment room with an injury he picked up against Luton Town in September.

Josh Maja anytime goalscorer @ 8/5

Maja has been a man possessed for West Brom this season with seven goals in eight appearances. The former Sunderland hot-shot has had to be patient for his chance at The Hawthorns having joined last season.

Three of his goals have come in his last four outings, but unfortunately his scoring run was blunted in midweek against Boro. With Albion slipping to two consecutive defeats, Maja will want to help his team return to winning ways back on home soil this weekend.

Interestingly, only one of his goals has come at The Hawthorns, which came against Plymouth Argyle in the game that took place there before Middlesbrough a couple of weeks ago. His chances of landing the Golden Boot will be good because he is so proficient on the road, but he will solidify his shot by becoming more prolific at home.

Millwall can be defensively vulnerable, which is shown by the fact that they have conceded 11 goals already this campaign. Therefore, I think the leading marksman in the division can get back on the scoresheet.

He will be feeling extra motivated because he will be coming up against a player who is breathing down his neck in the scoring charts in Millwall's Watmore. He will be eager to give himself some breathing room at the top.

Casper De Norre to receive a card @ 4/1

The first thing that stood out to me with this selection was the price of 4/1, which feels like excellent value for Casper De Norre to receive a yellow card. The Millwall midfielder is going to have a tough afternoon in the West Midlands as The Hawthorns is one of the toughest places to visit in the Championship, as Albion do boast a a strong home record.

Yes, they were beaten here by Boro earlier this week, but that does feel like it was more of an anomaly rather than things unravelling for West Brom. The Baggies will want to bounce back straight away and they will be rubbing their hands together to face an inconsistent Millwall side.

The midfield battle in this game will be huge and Millwall will have a hard time trying to win it, so I think De Norre is a suitable selection to go into the book. He has been carded three times already this season despite only committing four fouls in eight appearances.

This would suggest that when he does offend his challenges are reckless, or that he gets sucked into the emotion of the game and gets into trouble with the officials for his decorum regarding their decisions.
