Live on Sky Sports at 17:30, the Championship offers up a mouth-watering encounter as high-flying Ipswich Town travel to the Hawthorns to face West Bromwich Albion. Kieran McKenna’s side are now level on points with league leaders Leicester City, and be top of the tree come Christmas. Below we’ve previewed this clash and come up with a couple of betting selections.

West Brom vs Ipswich Tips

  • Ipswich Town to win @ 6/4
  • Over 3.5 goals @ 9/4

Team News

John Swift, Josh Maja and Adam Reach are all getting closer to a return for the hosts and it remains to be seen whether they will be involved in this one. Meanwhile, Daryl Dike’s injury looks set to keep him out until the new year.

For Ipswich, they are without Lee Evans who is suffering from a knee injury while Brandon Wiliams was back in training this week having suffered from a short illness.

Match Odds

This is a perfectly-balanced encounter and that is reflected in the odds. Both teams are 6/4 to win the game, while a draw is priced at 9/4. Elsewhere, BTTS is 4/6 and over 2.5 goals is 4/5

Ipswich Town to win @ 6/4

I’m fully on-board the Ipswich Town bandwagon, and have been since the season started. There’s something truly special about Kieran McKenna and the team he has built at Portman Road and after winning 12 of their opening 16 games, there is no reason why they can’t go on and achieve a remarkable double promotion.

The Tractor Boys are not right on Leicester’s tail, level on points with the former Premier League winners, with a far more modest wage bill. So far, most Championship outfits have been unable to deal with Ipswich’s phenomenal attack that has seen them score an incredible 36 goals across 16 matches - seven more than any other team at this level.

They should be able to blow West Brom away at the Hawthorns with their goalscoring talent. Albion are a top defensive outfit and Carlos Corberan is an excellent manager, but I’m so keen on Ipswich this season I’m happy to back them in any game at a price of 6/4

Over 3.5 goals @ 9/4

Ipswich are the most entertaining team in the league. They’ve scored more goals than any other team, and their last five games have finished 3-2, 2-2, 2-2, 3-1 and 3-2. As a result, the 9/4 on their to be more than 3.5 goals in this games marks extraordinary value, given it has come in each of Ipswich’s last five.

West Brom are not quite as entertaining, but their last two matches have finished in a 2-1 defeat and a 3-1 win, showing they are capable of scoring and conceding goals at will. Against one of the division's elite sides, we can expect West Brom to be competitive, but they could be torn apart by this fantastic Ipswich team.
