The Championship is back in action this weekend and there are some exciting fixtures that could have huge repercussions at both ends of the table. Leicester City host Queens Park Rangers, Leeds United travel to Huddersfield Town, Birmingham City welcome Southampton, while Swansea City and Blackburn Rovers go to battle.

From the full selection of the weekend's action in the second tier, we have picked what we feel are the best predictions for the weekend.

Weekend Championship Betting Tips

  • Norwich and over 2.5 goals in Norwich City vs Sunderland @ 15/8
  • Sammie Szmodics to score anytime in Swansea City vs Blackburn Rovers @ 9/5
  • Both teams to score Yes in Plymouth Argyle vs Ipswich Town @ 8/15

Norwich and over 2.5 goals in Norwich City vs Sunderland @ 15/8

Norwich have been in excellent form in 2024. They have just lost one of their nine Championship matches so far, winning five of them. They are on a run of five games unbeaten and three of them have been victories.

The Canaries welcome a downbeat Sunderland side to Carrow Road on Saturday, who have been beaten in their last three outings. We think Norwich are worth backing to win this contest and to add some value to the selection, we have also added for there to be over 2.5 goals.

Their last two wins on home turf smashed this barrier as the Canaries posted back-to-back four-goal showings against Watford and Cardiff City. They should have no issues in scoring goals against a Black Cats side that is low on confidence.

Norwich and over 2.5 goals at 15/8

Sammie Szmodics to score anytime in Swansea City vs Blackburn Rovers @ 9/5

Blackburn Rovers midfielder Sammie Szmodics has been the surprising top scorer in the division so far with 18 goals to his name. The Republic of Ireland international was on the scoresheet against Newcastle in the FA Cup in midweek, and he has netted twice in his last five Championship appearances.

As they head to Swansea on the weekend for a crunch clash towards the bottom of the table, the 28-year-old will be looked to by his team mates to help steer Rovers away from danger. And with his exceptional goal record this year, we are at a point now where we're expecting his name to pop up whenever Blackburn score.

Sammie Szmodics to score anytime at 9/5

Both teams to score Yes in Plymouth Argyle vs Ipswich Town @ 8/15

Ipswich Town are having a phenomenal season back in the second tier following their promotion from League One last term. The Tractor Boys are still fighting for an automatic promotion spot to the Premier League with plenty of games still left to play.

They have been an incredible attacking force but the defence has not been on the same wavelength. They have managed to keep just 10 clean sheets from 34 thus far, meaning BTTS has landed a lot this term (21).

Plymouth Argyle have been at their strongest this season when playing at home. In just three of their 17 matches at Home Park have they failed to find the back of the net.

Two of those have come in their last two outings there but against an Ipswich side that is susceptible to conceding goals as much as they score them, the Pilgrims will sense an opportunity to get back on target on home soil.

Both teams to score at 8/15
