Watford vs Norwich Prediction: Hornets to take down Canaries

Watford will be looking to bounce back to winning ways in the Championship when they welcome Norwich to Vicarage Road on Tuesday night.

The Hornets' six-game unbeaten run came to an end at the weekend, as they went down 2-0 at leaders Leicester, and next up is the visit of a Norwich side that are eyeing a third straight victory.

David Wagner has eased the pressure on his shoulders following back-to-back triumphs, but a defeat at Vicarage Road will see the knives come out again and it looks like a tough ask for the Canaries to avoid defeat.

Watford vs Norwich Prediction

  • #PickYourPunt - Mileta Rajovic to score anytime and Shane Duffy to be carded @ 11/2

Team news

Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann was sent off at Leicester last time out and is suspended for this clash, with Ben Hamer expected to take the gloves in his absence. Jeremy Ngakia's ankle injury is expected to keep him sidelined for a few months.

Norwich are sweating over the fitness of Jonathan Rowe, who missed Saturday's win over QPR with a heel issue, while fellow forward Josh Sargent remains sidelined as he continues his recovery from a ligament injury.

Goalkeeper Angus Gunn and centre-back Grant Hanley are both unavailable, while Poland international Przemyslaw Placheta is a doubt because of a toe problem.

Match odds

Watford are the 11/10 favourites to return to the winners' circle on Tuesday, with the draw priced at 5/2 and Norwich 12/5 to make it three victories in a row.

Four of the Hornets' last five home games have produced over 3.5 goals, while Norwich's last two away matches have seen this bet land, and it is 7/4 for there to be over 3.5 strikes again.

Watford to win @ 11/10

Watford may be heading into this clash on the back of a 2-0 loss to Leicester, but the Hornets kept the Championship leaders at bay for 76 minutes at the King Power Stadium and there are positives that can be taken from that defeat.

Valerien Ismael's side were on a six-game unbeaten run before that East Midlands disappointment and they will fancy their chances of responding at Vicarage Road, a venue they have collected 15 of their 21 points at this season.

The Hornets thrashed Rotherham 5-0 in their last home clash, extending their unbeaten run in Hertfordshire to three matches, and they should have enough quality in their ranks to dispose of Norwich.

Wagner's side have picked up recently with a 3-2 win at Cardiff followed by a 1-0 success over QPR, but they were not convincing in that latest victory over a Hoops side sitting in the relegation zone and a big improvement will be required to get anything from Tuesday's clash.

It feels like Wagner is on borrowed time at the Canaries and a sixth away defeat of the campaign would put his position in doubt once again.

#PickYourPunt - Mileta Rajovic to score anytime and Shane Duffy to be carded @ 11/2

Summer arrival Mileta Rajovic has settled into life at Watford nicely and he leads the way in his club's scoring charts, bagging six goals to leave him joint seventh in the Golden Boot race.

Four of the 24-year-old forward's strikes have come on home soil and he bagged a brace in the most recent outing at Vicarage Road, making him a prime candidate to stay on the goal trail.

Boosting up the price on this #PickYourPunt is for Norwich defender Shane Duffy to be carded. The Republic of Ireland international has already been shown five yellows this season and he could be in for a physical battle against 6ft 4in Rajovic.
