Fifa world cup 1 scaled

Wales host Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifier at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday (19:45), with 30,000 Welsh supporters arriving to cheer on Craig Bellamy's side.

Wales have made an excellent start to life under the management of Bellamy and a comfortable success is anticipated when Kazakhstan come to Cardiff.

Kazakhstan have been badly struggling to score goals, so the Welsh goalkeeper will have high hopes of keeping a clean sheet on Saturday. Below you can find my Wales vs Kazakhstan predictions.

Team News

Bellamy will have to do without injured trio Ethan Ampadu, Wes Burns and Harry Wilson for this clash, while first-choice goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has been eased back to fitness after a serious Achilles injury.

Danny Ward has played only twice for Leicester City in the Premier League this season, but the 31-year-old seems likely to retain his position as keeper for Wales, with Hennessey still not back to full fitness.

Football Odds

Bellamy was given another selection headache when captain Aaron Ramsay was forced out of the Wales squad due to a hamstring injury sustained playing for Cardiff City earlier this month.

Wales vs Kazakhstan Stats

  • Wales are unbeaten in their last six World Cup qualifiers at home
  • Wales have lost just one of their last 16 internationals
  • Kazakhstan have gone 21 World Cup qualifiers without winning

Kazakhstan may be set to pin their hopes of causing an upset on 16-year-old Dastan Satpaev, who signed for Chelsea last month and has great potential.

Besiktas midfielder Bakhtiyar Zaynutdinov is not fit enough to take his place in the side, but Zenit Saint Petersburg's Nuraly Alip is able to take his place at the heart of the visiting defence.

Wales vs Kazakhstan Odds

Wales are 1/7 to win the match, with the draw at 5/1 and Kazakhstan 14/1 to triumph.

Wales to win to nil @ 4/6

Wales are unbeaten in their last six World Cup qualifiers at home - and it would be a shock should Kazakhstan end that streak on Saturday night.

Over 90 minutes, Wales have lost just one of their last 16 internationals, winning seven and drawing eight, while Kazakhstan have gone 21 World Cup qualifiers without winning, losing 14 of those contests.

Given Wales have kept a clean sheet in three of their last four home games, it is reasonable to expect the Dragons to win without conceding against Kazakhstan.

Dan James anytime goalscorer @ 8/5

Championship Player of the Month for February, Dan James, could be the star of this fixture. The in-form Leeds winger is a direct player who is happy to take a shot at goal, and he can be backed at 8/5 to get on the scoresheet against Kazakhstan.

Wales are tackling a side which is 81 places below them in the world rankings and James can be fancied to run riot. He has scored 10 goals this season in helping United to the top of the Championship table.
