Villarreal vs Mallorca Prediction: Out of sorts rivals hard to split

The latest round of La Liga action concludes on Monday evening (20:00, Premier Sports 1) as Villarreal welcome Mallorca to El Madrigal for what promises to be a keenly fought contest. With 19 games each played in Spain's top-flight, goal difference alone splits these teams, with both having collected 30 points.

The home side can welcome back Yeremy Pino after suspension, but they have concerns over a host of players, including Diego Conde, Alfonso Pedraza, Ramon Terrats, Nicolas Pepe, Ayoze Perez and Ilias Akhomach. 

Antonio Raillo appears to be Mallorca's sole injury absentee. Boss Jagoba Arrasate will be able to call on Vedat Muriqi and Manu Morlanes, both having served a suspension in the previous La Liga game at Getafe.

As noted, Villarreal have collected more points on their travels than they have at home this season, with 13 garnered at El Madrigal compared to 17 on the road. 

On points, there is nothing to split these teams. Mallorca will be thrilled to have won five of nine games on their travels, but it has been all or nothing so far for Arrasate and his side, beaten in their other four away assignments. 

Villarreal come into this contest having won just once in seven La Liga outings since late November. 

Mallorca have won four of their last six in the league, but typically for their Jekyll and Hyde style, it's four losses in the last eight overall after they started 2025 with defeats in the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup.
