USA vs Belgium Prediction: Red Devils’ dominance of this fixture to continue

The USA are gearing up to host the Fifa World Cup finals for the first time in 32 years this summer. The Stars and Stripes reached the round of 16 in 1994 and they will hope to better that in 2026. They have a warm-up game against Belgium on Saturday (19:30 GMT, Premier Sports 2) at the Mercedez-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

USA boss Mauricio Pochettino is going to be without striker Haji Wright because of a groin issue. A knee injury has ruled out midfielder Tyler Adams, while Sergino Dest is nursing a hamstring problem.

Brenden Aaronson is looking to showcase the form he exhibited over the winter period for Leeds United. He is likely going to support Folarin Balogun in attack, alongside the Stars and Stripes' poster boy Christian Pulisic.

A hamstring injury forced Romelu Lukaku to pull out of Belgium's squad, so Charles De Ketelaere seems to be the number one candidate to lead the Red Devils' attack on Saturday.

Thibaut Courtois (thigh), Hans Vanaken and Leandro Trossard (both hip) are the other notable absentees for the visitors.

Lukaku will be a big miss for Belgium but boss Rudi Garcia still has a lot of talented attackers to choose from in Atlanta. The USA will provide his side with an interesting exercise. World Cup fever is very much taking over the country and this gives Belgium a chance to test their resolve in front of a raucous American crowd ahead of the summer spectacle.

The ship may have sailed for Belgium's infamous 'Golden Generation' but the small European country is still bringing through some talented players and, on paper, they do boast a competitive squad.

This is reflected in their recent form as they have five wins from their previous seven fixtures. It may not be a walk in the park like it was against Kazakhstan (6-0) and Liechtenstein (7-0 and 6-0), given the form of their hosts, but I believe the Red Devils' star quality can shine brightest on the day.

Both Teams To Score & Total Goals Over/Under 2.5 - Yes & Over @ 1/1

Both the USA and Belgium are blessed with capable goalscorers in their ranks, and for that reason I am expecting no shortage of goals on Saturday. I like the combination of both teams to score and over 2.5 goals at 1/1 (implied probability of 50%) because this has landed in each of the hosts' last three games - all of which have come on home turf.

This bet also landed in Belgium's second-most-recent away trip against Wales. I predict that the USA can push the Red Devils all the way, just as the Dragons did back in October.
