Ligue 1 swings back into action on Friday night as Toulouse host Lyon in a mid-table clash. That will come as somewhat of a relief to the away side, who were bottom of the league in late October when they sacked Fabio Grosso but have recovered well under former academy boss Pierre Sage.

Below you can find our Toulouse vs Lyon prediction, as Sage looks to secure another win to continue his excellent start to life as a first-team manager.

Toulouse vs Lyon Tips

  • Lyon to win @ 7/4
  • Lyon to win to nil @ 18/5

Team News

Zakaria Aboukhial has a slight knee issue and could miss this one along with Denis Genreau, as they both sat out Toulouse’s 1-0 defeat to Le Havre. Meanwhile Mikel Desler and Moussa Diarra are out until after the international break with calf issues.

Alexandre Lacazette missed Lyon’s win over Lorient but could return here after his knock, but Johann Lepenant has a sprained knee and will not be available. Nottingham Forest loanee Orel Mangala is ill, while Ernest Nuamah is also unlikely to be considered for selection.

Match Odds

This is an even match-up according to Betfred. Toulouse are priced at 13/8, while Lyon to win is 7/4. A draw can be backed at 23/10, BTTS is 4/6 and over 2.5 goals is 10/11

Lyon to win @ 7/4

Toulouse had looked like they were on the right track, having won three league games in a row, before they put in a shocking performance in their 1-0 defeat to Le Havre last time out. Before that defeat, they had come from behind to win their previous two Ligue 1 encounters having conceded first. However, Carles Martinez Novell’s side have only won three of their 12 home league games this season and face a tough test against a resurgent Lyon.

The away side meanwhile have been wonderful since the new manager came in. A shot in the arm was needed, and he certainly has delivered that, with Lyon winning 11 of their last 15 games in all competitions. Importantly, they’ve also won more games on the road than at home this term, which gives me the confidence to back Les Gones here.

Lyon win

Lyon to win to nil @ 18/5

One thing that has set alarm bells ringing in my head for Toulouse is their last game. Not only were they dismal against Le Havre, but for the first time this year they didn’t register a single shot on target. They’ve only scored 27 goals in 25 league games this season and their attack doesn’t look all that threatening.

Lyon meanwhile have kept two clean sheets in their last three games in all competitions and they also didn’t allow Lorient to have a single shot on target in their last outing. Those two performances last weekend give me the belief that Lyon will keep Toulouse at bay. They may not even all them to have a shot at goal.
