Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City face off for the third and final time this season on Wednesday (19:30, TNT Sports 3) with the hosts at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium looking to make it a hat-trick of wins against the reigning Premier League champions. Ange Postecoglou's side beat the Citizens 2-1 at home in the Carabao Cup fourth round in October and just weeks later they thrashed Pep Guardiola's charges 4-0 in the league at the Etihad Stadium.

A lot has changed since that November 23 victory for Spurs, but they arrive into this midweek meeting on the back of three straight Premier League wins, the most recent being a 4-1 hammering of Ipswich Town on Saturday, while Man City suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to Liverpool the following day. Below are my Tottenham vs Manchester City Bet Builder tips as I back a mid-season signing to get on the scoresheet in north London.

Tottenham vs Manchester City Odds

Double Chance - Tottenham or Draw

Despite the gulf in quality between these two teams for the past decade-plus, Spurs hold a decent recent record against the Citizens, winning five of the last 10 head-to-heads in all competitions. At the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, they've been even better, dominating Guardiola's superstars; they won the first four Premier League games meetings there before suffering a 2-0 defeat in May last year that effectively handed the league title to City ahead of Arsenal.

Spurs have, at times, been shocking this season, but they appear to have turned a corner in recent weeks, winning their last three Premier League matches and conceding just once. Granted, the second and third victories were against Ipswich Town (1-4) and Manchester United (1-0) respectively, two poor sides, but the first was a 2-0 success at Brentford.

  • Spurs have won all 3 PL games so far in February
  • Man City have won just 2 of their last 9 PL away games (W2, D2, L5)
  • Spurs have won 80% of PL games v Man City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (W4, L1)

City, meanwhile, have lost four of their last six games in all competitions - all against high-level opponents, it has to be said - and without Erling Haaland against Liverpool on Sunday, they looked rather toothless.

Whether Postecoglou can inspire a hat-trick of wins over Guardiola this season, I'm not sure, but certainly, I believe they can avoid defeat on Wednesday and make it four league matches unbeaten.

Player Goals - Omar Marmoush (MCI) Anytime Goalscorer

While I don't think the visitors will collect maximum points, I am confident they will get on the scoresheet despite Spurs' defensive improvement this month.

Spurs kept back-to-back clean sheets against Brentford and Man United but were denied a third straight shutout on Saturday as Ipswich attacker Omari Hutchinson struck in the 36th minute at Portman Road.

Prior to February, Postecoglou's side had gone seven league games without a clean sheet.

  • Marmoush has scored 3 goals in first 4 PL apps
  • 2 shots on target v PL leaders Liverpool on Sunday
  • 23 goals across 33 apps for Frankfurt & City in 24/25

With Haaland out injured, Omar Marmoush is expected to lead the line for City and he will be looking to hit the heights of February 15 when he hit a hat-trick in a 4-0 thrashing of Newcastle United.

The Egyptian was bright in the weekend defeat to Liverpool, shooting four times and forcing two saves from Alisson Becker in the Reds' net, but he was let down by his teammates, notably Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne.

Marmoush was flagged offside twice on Sunday and three times on his Premier League debut against Chelsea, highlighting his willingness to run in behind. He doesn't always time his runs perfectly, nor have the players behind him been quick enough to play him in at times, but against Spurs' high line, the January signing from Eintracht Frankfurt could profit.

He scored 15 goals in 17 Bundesliga appearances this season before swapping Germany for England and his three strikes against Newcastle should have settled him in nicely.

Player Shots on Target - James Maddison (TOT) 1+ Shots on Target

James Maddison has endured a topsy-turvy season, struggling with his fitness but still managing to score nine goals in 24 Premier League appearances, just 16 of which have been starts. Two of those strikes came in the first 20 minutes of November's 4-0 battering of City at the Etihad as the England international put his side 2-0 in front before Pedro Porro and Brennan Johnson made it three and four in the second half.

The 28-year-old is averaging 0.7 shots on target per game in the Premier League this term and has managed five across his last four competition starts, netting the only goal on his last one against Man United earlier this month.

  • Maddison is averaging 0.7 shots on target per PL game in 24/25
  • Scored in November's reverse fixture at the Etihad
  • City have conceded at least 3 shots on target in last 9 PL away games

City shipped five goals in their last away game which was also in north London, at the home of Spurs' bitter rivals Arsenal, who hit five past Guardiola's charges and also forced two saves from Stefan Ortega.

The Citizens have conceded at least three shots on target in their last nine league away matches and if Spurs record a minimum of three on Wednesday I'd expect Maddison to be among the players that have either scored or had a shot saved/cleared off the line by a defender.

Total Shots - Over 26.5 Shots

This line landed last time out between these two teams with a total of 30 shots (City - 23, Spurs - nine) recorded at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and the Carabao Cup clash at the Etihad a month prior saw it fall just under (26 shots).

City are averaging 16.5 shots per game in the Premier League this season while Spurs are averaging 14.5 per game.

Both defences have been in dire straits over the last few months and the strengths of each lay in attack, so I think we could be in for another open contest on Wednesday.

  • 30 shots between Spurs & City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in November
  • City are averaging 16.5 shots taken per PL game in 24/25
  • Spurs are averaging 14.5 shots taken per PL game in 24/25
