Tottenham vs Brentford Prediction: Bentancur to go into the book again

Tottenham Hotspur host Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday (15:00), looking to respond to their defeat to Arsenal last week. They will have given themselves some confidence in the week as they beat Coventry City in the Carabao Cup, but the Bees will be another tough test.
Brentford have won two and lost two in the top-flight so far but they gave a good account of themselves in last week's defeat to Manchester City. Read on for my Tottenham vs Brentford prediction, accompanied by match odds and team news.
Tottenham vs Brentford Betting Tips
Tottenham are 1/2 to win this match, giving them an implied probability of 66.7%. Brentford are priced at 9/2 to take the three points, which gives them a theoretical chance of 18.2%. The draw can be backed at 100/30 (23.1%).
Over 2.5 goals is available at 2/5 and both teams to score is valued at 8/15. Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo has netted three goals in the Premier League this season and he is marketed at 11/5 to score anytime on Saturday.
Spurs' Son Heung-min has two goals himself and he is priced at 9/2 to open the scoring or 6/5 to find the back of the net at any point during the match.
Team News
Spurs were spared their blushes in midweek as they salvaged victory from the jaws of defeat against Coventry City in the third round of the Carabao Cup. Djed Spence cancelled out Brandon Thomas-Asante's opener in the 88th minute before Brennan Johnson completed the comeback in added time.
The manner of that victory should give the players a massive boost as they look to get on track in the league, especially when they will be aiming to be in top-four contention this season.
Ange Postecoglou made several changes in the week but the likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Pedro Porro, Son, Maddison, Johnson, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski are expected to be restored to the starting lineup on Saturday.
Yves Bissouma has missed the last two matches due to a knock he picked up on international duty with Mali, so the midfielder is deemed a doubt for the weekend. Richarlison is also in the treatment room.
For Brentford, boss Thomas Frank has revealed that striker Yoane Wissa will be out of action for a few months with the injury he picked up in last weekend's defeat at Manchester City. He joins fellow striker Igor Thiago on the sidelines, leaving Mbeumo as the Bees' only forward option at the moment.
Also in the medical bay are Mathias Jensen, Gustavo Nunes, Aaron Hickey, Josh Dasilva and Rico Henry.
Draw or Brentford @ 6/4
I must admit, the loss of Wissa to injury did make me think twice about this selection, but how often do we see Frank's side not get fazed by adversity and still come out the other side strongly.
Spurs won in the week but they were very fortunate, and so their troubled start to the season is continuing. They were bested against bitter rivals Arsenal last weekend and before that they were beaten by Newcastle United despite being the better team overall.
Things aren't going to plan right now and I think Brentford can capitalise on this on Saturday. With Spurs at home, I am not expecting the Bees to go there and dominate them, but they will be alert to punish mistakes and they will look to catch out Spurs' defensive high line.
One thing I will say is that the visitors have looked more dangerous of the two when going forward this campaign, and Spurs need to start improving in the final third. Dominic Solanke is waiting for the goals to come after his big-money move in the summer, while Son has been having his influence hampered out on the left.
The fans will be hoping to see signs this weekend, and they certainly have the attacking quality to score more goals than they currently are, but I think Brentford can frustrate them. How many times have we seen the Bees upset the big boys in the Premier League?
They have looked sharper than their hosts so far and I think they can at least come away with a point this weekend as a result.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Rodrigo Bentancur to receive a card @ 12/5
No player in the Premier League has picked up more yellow cards than Spurs midfielder Bentancur so far (three), with the Uruguayan collecting his latest in last week's North London Derby.
What's interesting is that he has only committed four fouls in the three games in which he has featured. Bentancur has shown that he can lose his cool when things are not going to plan and I think this is something that Brentford will be aware of ahead of the weekend.
I can see them using this to their advantage in a bid to lure him into doing something foolish. As I mentioned above, I think this will be another match in the league in which Spurs will fail to win, and this building frustration is likely going to show in the play of their defenders and midfielders this weekend.
As the player with the most cards this term, I think Bentancur is the most sensible selection to go into the book in Saturday's contest.
