Torino vs Atalanta Prediction: La Dea looking to break into European spots

Atalanta and Torino have European ambitions this season, but both will go into the game outside the top six in Serie A when they meet on Monday.

La Dea secured their place in the Europa League knockout stages as group winners with a game to spare last week, but a return to the Champions League will be their goal for the season ahead, while the hosts are in mid-table but only five points adrift of the European spots.

Torino vs Atalanta Tips

  • Atalanta to win @ 6/4
  • Gianluca Scamacca to score anytime @ 9/4

Match Odds

Atalanta are priced at 6/4 to claim the victory, while Torino are on offer at 15/8. The draw can be backed at 11/5.

Team News

Torino remain without Samuele Ricci, Perr Schuurs and Saba Sazonov for the visit of Atalanta due to various injury issues, but they have no fresh worries ahead of Monday’s game.

The visitors remain without forward El Bilal Toure, who is yet to make his competitive debut after sustaining an injury in pre-season, while Lukas Vorlicky is another long-term absentee.

Jose Luis Palomino is close to a return, but Monday’s game may come too soon, although AC Milan loanee Charles De Ketelaere, Davide Zappacosta and Rafael Toloi could recover in time for the trip to Turin.

Atalanta to win @ 6/4

Atalanta have hit a bit of a rough patch with just one win in their last five games across all competitions, but they have faced some tough fixtures.

La Dea have lost by one-goal margins to both Inter Milan and Napoli during that period, and generally their away form has been fairly strong, with three wins and just one defeat across their last six games on the road in all competitions.

Torino have won just two of their last 10 games across all competitions and they were disappointing in a 2-0 defeat at Bologna last time out.

Il Toro have only lost once at home in six Serie A games, but they have also managed just two wins and goals have been an issue for Ivan Juric’s troops. They have scored just four goals at home and are among the division’s lowest scorers with just 10 goals in 13 games overall.

In contrast, Atalanta have hit 21 goals in their 13 games and they won both league meetings last season, with an aggregate score of 5-2, and that suggests they can outgun their hosts and leave with the points on Monday.

Gianluca Scamacca to score anytime @ 9/4

Gianluca Scamacca is Atalanta’s top scorer in Serie A this season with five goals in 10 games and he looks a decent candidate to get on the scoresheet at the Stadio Olimpico.

The former Sassuolo and West Ham striker went through a bit of a goal drought in November as he failed to score in six games, but he was on target in the draw with Sporting last week, while he also saw a goal ruled out for offside in that Europa League game.

Scamacca should keep his starting spot after that display against Sporting and he can add to his tally with a goal against Torino.
