Friday's action first takes us to South Korea for a clash in K League 1 that sees third-place Ulsan travel to Jeju United, who occupy eighth. Neither side has been in great form of late heading into this match. The hosts have lost three of their last five with two wins sandwiched in between, highlighting that consistency has been a huge issue for them this season.

As for Ulsan, they have only managed just one victory from their last five outings, which does not reflect the form of a team third in the table. With league leaders Pohang Steelers and second-placed Gimcheon Sangmu both dropping points in recent weeks, Ulsan could rue a missed opportunity come the end of term as they remain two points off the top of the table.

Both teams will see this contest as an excellent opportunity to start finding a rhythm, with the visiting team having the chance to move to the top of the table with three points.

In Germany, Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen head to Essen for a pre-season friendly as they prepare to head into a new season in unfamiliar territory. As the champions, teams will be motivated to knock them off their perch this year. Bayern Munich will be one, having been knocked off their own perch by Leverkusen, who ended their years of dominance.

Xabi Alonso has added three new members to his squad over the summer (Martin Terrier, Aleix Garcia and Jeanuel Belocian) as they bid to strengthen and make sure that last year was not a one-off, and that they are now going to be consistently competing for the title year on year.

Moving across to the Republic of Ireland, there are two top-flight matches in store. The first sees Bohemians host Dundalk, with both sides in very disappointing form this year. The visitors did win on their last outing, however, which will give them the edge in Dublin.

Bottom-of-the-table Drogheda United welcome third-place Waterford hoping to secure just their fourth win of the campaign. The visiting outfit have won 11 in comparison and there should be a huge gulf in class between the two teams on Friday night.
