Two sides on a poor run of form lock horns at the Liberty Stadium on Friday evening and managerless Swansea City will be hoping they can utilise home advantage against Preston North End.

The lowly Swans have won only two of their last 11 Championship clashes, while Preston have seen themselves slide out of the play-off places following just one victory in six.

The visitors must also respond to a 5-1 mauling at home to Watford last time out, which means an entertaining encounter could be on the cards as Swansea also find clean sheets hard to come by.

Swansea vs Preston Prediction

  • Swansea to win & both teams to score @ 16/5
  • Over 10.5 corners @ 6/5

Team news

The injury situation remains a difficult one for Swansea, who are still without experienced midfielder Joe Allen and forward Josh Ginnelly.

The Swans are also still missing long-term absentees Mykola Kukharevych, Azeem Abdulai, Nathaniel Ogbeta and Harrison Ashby.

Preston have much less cause for concern, although star striker Emil Riis, who has returned to training, remains on the sidelines.

Match odds

Swansea have failed to triumph in any of their last six home league games and they can be backed at 21/20 to regain the winning thread, with Preston 11/4 to get their play-off pursuit back on track.

The draw, which has happened in three of Swansea’s last four home league games, is a 23/10 chance.

Both teams to score is available at 4/5 while it is even-money for over 2.5 goals in the game.

Swansea are in need of a lift, having won only twice in their last 11 Championship matches, but they could give their supporters some Christmas cheer against Preston.

While the Swans’ results have been poor and they are still on the hunt for a new manager, performances haven’t been too bad and it was an even contest in their recent 2-1 defeat to playoff-chasing Middlesbrough.

Although they haven’t won in six home league games, Swansea have picked up points against top-six hopefuls Sunderland and Hull in that period of time.

So, this could be an excellent opportunity to get back on track against a Preston side that are failing to live up to their early-season standards.

The Lilywhites remain a very respectable eighth in the Championship standings, but they have won only one of their last six league matches.

Preston have suffered defeat in four of those six contests, which includes a 5-1 mauling at home to a rampant Watford last weekend.

A clean sheet may be hard for Swansea to come by, though, as both teams have scored in each of their last seven league assignments.

Over 10.5 corners @ 6/5

With an entertaining encounter on the cards, these two teams should rack up plenty of corners and going over 10.5 at odds-against is the way to go.

Swansea’s matches are averaging 10.32 this season while Preston’s are coming in at 10.41, with their recent defeat to Watford featuring 15 corners.

In fact, Preston’s away games are featuring an average of 12 corners per game and, with both teams likely to see this as a very winnable fixture, expect a free-flowing contest.
