St Johnstone are in desperate need for a win on home soil on Wednesday night (19:45 kick-off) against Ross County if they are to avoid a relegation playoff for their Premiership place this season.

Saints have been on a miserable run of form with four defeats in their last four games but they can look back on their recent meetings with Ross County to give them a lift.

There’s been little to choose from between these sides of late but St Johnstone might just have enough at McDiarmid Park to make it three wins on the spin against the Staggies this season. Below you can find my St Johnstone vs Ross County prediction, as well as the latest team news and odds.

St Johnstone vs Ross County Prediction

  • St Johnstone to win @ 7/5
  • Jordan White to be booked @ 13/5

Team News

Starting with the hosts, Saints manager Craig Levein has no fresh injury concerns after his side's 2-1 defeat at Livingston last time out.

The former Scotland boss is likely to go with a similar XI that took the field on Saturday, with the likes of Sven Sprangler and Ross Sinclair still sidelined through injury.

As for the visitors, County’s interim boss Don Cowie has a lengthy injury list to contend with as Scott Allardice, Ross Callachan, Max Sheaf and Dylan Smith are all sidelined.

The suspension of centre-back Jack Baldwin for Wednesday certainly does not help matters either and Loick Ayina will likely be the man to start in his stead.

St Johnstone vs Ross County Odds

St Johnstone are 7/5 - or a 22.2% chance - to claim the vital three points in Perth, while Ross County are 21/10 to lead back to the Highlands with the win that would see Saints condemned to a relegation playoff.

A draw on the night is available at 11/5, while under 1.5 goals in what could be a cagey affair is currently 2/1.

St Johnstone to win @ 7/5

As mentioned, St Johnstone’s recent form has been nothing to write home about but their record of late against Ross County has been strong.

After what was a disappointing 2-0 defeat up in Dingwall back in August, St Johnstone have won their last two meetings with the Staggies 1-0.

Winning at McDiarmid Park in November, Saints made it back-to-back victories over County with a win at Victoria Park in their last meeting in February.

Knowing they have what it takes to beat this Staggies side, with home advantage and with the visitors carrying more injuries, Saints are well priced to make it three wins on the bounce against the Highlanders.

St Johnstone to win at 7-5

Jordan White to be booked @ 13/5

There is something about this fixture that seems to bring a rush of blood to the head for Ross County forward Jordan White.

The 32-year-old striker has been booked in all of the last four meetings between these sides and at odds of 13/5 it’s hard to pass up White getting another yellow card on Wednesday night.
