Sporting Kansas City vs LA Galaxy Prediction: SKC to keep up unbeaten run

Two sides unbeaten in their first four MLS matches of the season meet at Children's Mercy Park on Sunday (KO, 00:30), as Sporting Kansas City host Los Angeles Galaxy. Both clubs have drawn three and won the other to sit in the Western Conference top six.

Below is our Sporting Kansas City vs LA Galaxy prediction, as well as all the latest team news and match odds heading into this weekend's clash.

Team News

Sporting Kansas City have only had one player called up for international duty - Alenis Vargas (Honduras), who has yet to start a game this season.

The Wizards will be without injured trio Kortne Ford, Logan Ndenbe and Khiry Shelton again, though.

Los Angeles Galaxy have retained the services of key stars such as Riqui Puig, Joseph Paintsil and Dejan Joveljic, but Martin Caceres is suspended after his red card in last week's 3-3 draw with St. Louis City.

Match Odds

Sporting Kansas City are 9/10 to pick up the three points on Sunday, while LA Galaxy can be found at 12/5 to win away. The draw is available at 13/5.

Both teams to score 1/2 and over 2.5 goals is backable at 8/15.

Sporting Kansas City or draw and both teams to score @ 19/20

Clean sheets have been hard to come by for both sides so far this season; the Wizards have only kept one - against Galaxy's city rivals LAFC in a goalless draw - while Greg Vanney's team have conceded in all four of their games, shipping five goals across their last two (3-3 v St. Louis City, 2-2 v Nashville SC).

It should be another entertaining affair on Sunday, carrying on the theme in meetings between these clubs. Three of the last four have produced at least four goals with SKC winning 4-2 in Kansas City in August 2022 and a couple of 2-2 draws in Carson after that.

Backing both sides to score isn't too difficult, but choosing a winner is, given these teams have won just one apiece so far. At home, SKC are favourites, which is why I would side for them over Galaxy, but including the draw as insurance looks the wisest move here.

Dejan Joveljic to score anytime @ 15/8

Considering the Serbian striker has scored in all four of his MLS matches so far this term, these odds look more than reasonable.

Joveljic has scored against Inter Miami (H), San Jose Earthquakes (A), Nashville SC (A) and St. Louis City (H) during the past month, despite not making it to the 70th minute in two of them.

SKC are yet to shut out the opposition at home and if they fail to do so again, the likelihood is that Joveljic will be at the source of it.

Only Luis Suarez (Inter Miami) and Georgios Giakoumakis (Atlanta United) can match the 24-year-old in the MLS goalscoring charts, with the departure of Chicharito seemingly making him feel more comfortable at LA Galaxy.
