Team News
Stephen Robinson will hope to fix his team’s poor form and he may make some changes in order to do so. Scott Tanser is an injury concern having been subbed against Dundee United, with Declan John his most likely replacement.
Jake Young could come in having scored off the bench in that one, with Richard King and Jalmaro Kalvin defensive options who could start having come off the bench in that league game.
Partick Thistle boss Mark Wilson will be glad that his side have had over a week to prepare for this game, so we could see a similar XI as the one that turned out last time out. However, Daniel O’Reilly is suspended having been sent off in that one, with Ethan Ingram set to start in his place in the back three.

St Mirren vs Partick Thistle Odds
St Mirren are 5/6 to win this game in 90 minutes, with Partick the 3/1 underdogs on the night. That gives the host an implied win probability of 55%, while a draw that will force extra-time is 5/2.

St Mirren vs Partick Thistle Stats
- St Mirren are winless in five
- Partick are unbeaten in their last five
- St Mirren won the Scottish League Cup earlier this season
Draw @ 5/2
How much weight do you put on current form? I think it’s fairly important and looking at St Mirren’s recent displays, there’s plenty to be concerned about. One point from their last five outings (a 1-1 draw away at bottom of the Premiership Livingston), isn’t anything to write home about, and Robinson finds himself mired in a relegation scrap they didn’t want to be involved in.
They sit 10th, just three points above Kilmarnock, and despite their incredible success in the cup competitions this season, their performances have steadily declined. They face a fresh Partick team that are second in the Championship and are targeting promotion, but by comparison they are unbeaten in their last five fixtures.
Three of those have ended in draws, and they are yet to beat a team from the top flight during their kind cup run, so I think this one looks too close to call. I’ll back a draw after 90 minutes, and extra-time between these two to kick us off.

First half score - 0-0 @ 9/5
Given I think these two are well-matched, I think it makes sense to back a 0-0 at half-time. St Mirren have failed to score in two of their last four, and they’ve only managed one first-half goal (vs Livingston) during that time period.
Meanwhile, Partick drew 0-0 last time out, and their attackers could find life tougher against a top-flight defence.
