Hearts vs Falkirk Prediction: Alexander to Schwolow a yellow at Tynecastle

Sitting a point ahead of Celtic with two rounds of fixtures remaining, Heart of Midlothian are inching closer to their first top-tier league title in 66 years. A 1-1 draw at Motherwell on the weekend was something of a setback, though, and with a potential title decider to come against the Glasgow giants at Celtic Park this Saturday, the Jambos will be desperate to beat Falkirk at Tynecastle on Wednesday night (20:00 BST, Sky Sports Football) to ensure they remain top heading into the final day.
Read on for my Hearts vs Falkirk predictions, supported by the latest team news and match odds, ahead of this midweek Scottish Premiership meeting in Edinburgh.

Team News
Birmingham City loanee Marc Leonard left Fir Park on crutches last Saturday night after suffering an Achilles injury that forced him off at half-time of that stalemate. His season looks to be over, meaning he will have a watching brief on Tuesday alongside Hearts teammates Craig Gordon (shoulder), Tomas Magnusson (broken cheekbone), Calem Nieuwenhof (hamstring), Ageu (thigh), Harry Milne (calf) and Oisin McEntee (unspecified).
Scott Bain (ankle), Leon McCann (unspecified), Ethan Williams and Louie Marsh (both thigh) are all likely sidelined for Falkirk.
Hearts vs Falkirk Predicted Lineups
- Hearts: Schwolow; Steinwender, Kent, Findlay; Altena, Baningime, Devlin, Kingsley; Spittal; Shankland, Braga
- Falkirk: Hogarth; Lissah, Neilson, Allan, Henderson; Spencer, Tait; Wilson, Broggio, Miller; Stewart
Hearts have won their last six home games, beating Falkirk 1-0 in the second of those victories, and Derek McInnes' side are 4/9 to make it seven consecutives success on home soil, implying a 69.2% probability.
The visitors are 6/1, or a 14.3% chance, to beat the Jambos for the first time in the league this season following three previous defeats, all without scoring.
The draw, meanwhile, is priced at 18/5, and both teams to score is 10/11.
Hearts vs Falkirk Stats
- HEA are five games without a clean sheet
- FAL have scored in their last eight league matches
- HEA have won their last six league contests on home soil
Match Result & Both Teams to Score - Hearts & Yes @ 2/1
Hearts played out a nervy 1-1 draw at Motherwell on Saturday, making it five games without a clean sheet.
Falkirk, meanwhile, have scored in their last eight league matches, which includes a 6-3 home defeat to Rangers and a 3-1 loss at Celtic Park, so they have recent experience of breaching the back line of big clubs.
Hearts have kept Falkirk out in all three previous league meetings this season, beating the Bairns 3-0 and 1-0 on home soil, as well as recording a 2-0 success at the Falkirk Stadium.
However, they were held to a 1-1 draw at Tynecastle by Falkirk in their Scottish Cup quarter-final tie, which was won by John McGlynn's side on penalties.
Falkirk don't have much to play for, which makes them fairly dangerous, in my opinion, as there is nothing holding them back.
As a result, I'm backing the visitors to get on the scoresheet, but I believe the quality and fighting spirit in the Hearts side will see them through to all three points, setting up a huge game at Celtic Park this weekend.

Player to Receive a Card - Alexander Schwolow (HEA) @ 15/2
Hearts goalkeeper Alexander Schwolow has only received one card this season and that was a red one for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity in January's 1-0 win over Dundee at Dens Park.
However, the 33-year-old may look to waste time in either or both of Hearts' next two games if they are winning, with the title now in touching distance.
This selection is obviously game-state dependent, but as I'm backing the Jambos to win on Tuesday, unless it's a last-gasp goal to claim all three points, then there is value in backing their goalkeeper to slow things down and collect a first yellow card of the campaign.
