A number of his goals have come from penalties or free kicks, as Tavernier is a set-piece specialist, but the defender has stepped up to score a variety of goals this campaign.

Tavernier nodded home against Motherwell on the opening day before netting a 90th-minute penalty to rescue a point against Dundee a week later.

He also volleyed the opener at Livingston, equalised against Celtic in the Scottish League Cup and converted a spot-kick at home to Braga in the Europa League.

What’s more, Tavernier has already scored against Dundee United this season, curling the ball into the corner of the net in a 2-2 draw at Ibrox in October.

With two goals in his last six games, the right-back could be a smart pick to find the net anytime at Tannadice on Wednesday evening.
