Sheffield United Bramall Lane

Sheffield United will attempt to lift themselves from the bottom of the Premier League when they welcome West Ham United to Bramall Lane on Sunday afternoon (14:00).

The Blades enjoyed a 4-0 drubbing of Gillingham in the FA Cup third round last time out, while the Hammers couldn't avoid a shock exit as they were beaten 1-0 by Championship outfit Bristol City.

Sheffield United vs West Ham Prediction

  • Draw and under 2.5 goals @ 3/1
  • Edson Alvarez to be carded @ 2/1

Team News

Sheffield United will be without Yasser Larouci and Anis Ben Slimane as they are both on AFCON duty, while John Egan, Tom Davies, Max Lowe and Chris Basham remain on the treatment table.

As for the Hammers, they will be hoping that Jarrod Bowen shakes off an ankle injury in time for Sunday's fixture, as well as potentially welcoming Edson Alvarez back into the starting XI.

Mohammed Kudus and Nayef Aguerd are both away at AFCON, while Michail Antonio is still out of action along with Lucas Paqueta.

Match Odds

Sheffield United are 12/5 to pick up a vital three points, and the draw is the same price, while a West Ham United win can be backed at 11/10.

Danny Ings is favourite to score anytime at 11/5, and both teams to score is priced up at 4/5.

Draw and under 2.5 goals @ 3/1

Unfortunately for Sheffield United, they hold the unwanted record of having scored the fewest and conceded the most goals in the Premier League this term, but the Blades have picked up seven of their nine points at Bramall Lane.

This weekend presents an ideal opportunity to secure a result against an out-of-sorts West Ham side who have lost three of their past four away outings, and will be without several key players due to injury and international duty.

While the Blades have been blunt in attack this season, they have netted in three of their last five league games and they can breach a Hammers backline that leak more than fair share.

David Moyes' men have failed to silence their opponents in 15 of their 20 league games this season, including nine of their 10 road trips, so I can see a low-scoring draw playing out.

Draw and under 2.5 goals at 3-1

Edson Alvarez to be carded @ 2/1

West Ham's tough-tackling midfielder is no stranger to a caution, picking up seven bookings in the Premier League this term, and 11 across all competitions.

The 26-year-old is averaging 1.2 fouls per game, and the Mexico international picked up a booking in the reverse fixture against the Blades back in September.

Edson Alvarez to be carded at 2-1
