Sheff Utd vs Nottingham Forest Prediction: Visitors to snatch big away win

The wind has surely been taken out of the sails of Sheffield United now that their relegation from the Premier League is confirmed. This won't be the case for Nottingham Forest, who head to Bramall Lane on Saturday (15:00) still fighting for their top-flight status.

The Tricky Trees have won just one of their last five and are precariously sitting just one point above Luton Town in 18th. They will be sensing an excellent opportunity to get back to winning ways lies in wait for them in south Yorkshire, and my Sheff Utd vs Nottingham Forest predictions are in agreement.

Sheffield United are 100/30 to win this match, which gives them a 23.1% chance. Nottingham Forest are 8/13 to take the three points, giving them an implied probability of 61.9%. The draw can be backed at 3/1 (25%).

Both teams to score has landed in 60% (21/35) of Sheffield United's Premier League matches this season, as well as in 63% (22/35) of Forest's. BTTS is on offer at 4/7 to deliver this weekend and over 2.5 goals is marketed at 8/15.

Forest striker Chris Wood has scored 12 goals in the league this year and is valued at 7/2 to open the scoring in Sheffield.

The Blades are still missing Chris Basham, John Egan, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Max Lowe and Tom Davies due to injury. Oli McBurnie, Rhian Brewster, James McAtee and Daniel Jebbison are all doubts to feature.

Nottingham Forest have no fresh injury concerns heading into this crunch clash, and striker Taiwo Awoniyi could be in line for a return at Bramall Lane, which could be a huge boost for Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

The onus will be on Forest to get on to the front foot on Saturday because they need the points, while Blades are already preparing for life back in the Championship next year. I think the visitors will be perked up by Sheffield United's downfall, sensing that they can pick up a rare three points.

Having mentioned that they have no fresh injury concerns compared to a lengthy injury list for the hosts, Forest should have more than enough to get the job done here, and if they don't, you'd fear for their safety.

Their destiny is still in their own hands and a win here could go a long way in the relegation battle, and it hasn't helped that Burnley have been picking up points of late, as the Clarets are just two points behind the Reds.

Nuno and co. know exactly what they need to do at Bramall Lane on Saturday and with the likes of Wood, Morgan Gibbs-White and Anthony Elanga in attack, I'm confident they can come away with the victory.

Given that both sides are susceptible to conceding goals, with the Blades' tally of 97 being a Premier League record, I'm confident there will be at least three goals in this contest.

Wood has been enjoying an impressive goalscoring campaign for Forest, having amassed 12 goals already in the top-flight. The New Zealand international's contributions have been giving the Tricky Trees their best chance of survival and it is clear that they are a much better side when he is on the pitch.

I'm backing him to lead from the front again this weekend and he will see Bramall Lane as an ideal hunting ground given the Blades have not been sharp at the back with almost 100 goals conceded. Wood's physicality is sure to cause them all sorts of problems and with the big target man surrounded by Elanga and Gibbs-White for service, he shouldn't be short of goalscoring opportunities.
