Manchester United will look to claim back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time this season when they travel to Bramall Lane on Saturday evening (20:00).

The hosts are rooted to the bottom of the table after a winless start to the campaign, while United are already eight points adrift of top spot.

John Egan will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury, while Tom Davies is also set for a spell on the sidelines.

In addition, George Baldock, Chris Basham, Daniel Jebbinson, Max Lowe, Rhys Norrington-Davies, Ben Osborn and Will Osula are all out of action.

As for United, Amad Traore, Tyrell Malacia, Lisandro Martinez and Jadon Sancho will all be absent, while Casemiro has been ruled out after picking up an injury on international duty.

There are also question marks over the availability of Sergio Reguilon, Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

United have endured a difficult start to the campaign, and I do think Sheffield United will be licking their lips at the prospect of causing an upset here.

The Blades were thumped 8-0 by Newcastle not too long ago, however, the displays against Manchester City and Spurs this season offer some encouragement.

United were fortunate to scrape past Brentford prior to the international break, courtesy of two late Scott McTominay strikes, but perhaps that victory could serve as the catalyst for the Red Devils getting back on track.

They’ve scored in their last 10 Premier League games against Sheffield United and I think they’ll go to Bramall Lane and get a goal – they certainly have the firepower. Rasmus Hojlund has made a positive start to his career at Old Trafford, and Marcus Rashford’s goal for his country in midweek could do his confidence the world of good.

The question is, can they keep Sheffield United out? In my opinion, the answer to that is no. Andre Onana is under all sorts of pressure at the moment, and United’s backline seems to change every game, which can’t be helping his confidence.

In addition, all four of United’s Premier League victories have been clinched by a single goal.

Scott McTominay to score anytime @ 16/5

United haven’t had a reliable goal source so far this term, so that’s why I’m backing Scott McTominay to find the scoresheet once again on Saturday night.

He came to the rescue off the bench against Brentford, and his six goals in qualifying have helped fire Scotland to Euro 2024.

With Casemiro a doubt for this game, he could be rewarded with a place in the starting XI this weekend, and the Scot could play in an advanced role if Sofyan Amrabat starts in the engine room. As a result, the 26-year-old may find more opportunities to get forward and cause havoc in the opposition box.
