Sheffield United Bramall Lane

Basement boys Sheffield United will look to drag themselves off the foot of the Premier League table this weekend when they host Aston Villa at Bramall Lane.

The Blades currently only have ten points to their name, while Villa’s top four tilt took a nosedive in midweek as they were well-beaten by Newcastle United. They will be hoping to bounce back here, and we have put together a bet builder for the game, which kicks off at 17:30 on Saturday afternoon.

Sheffield United vs Aston Villa Bet Builder Tips

  • Over 3.5 goals
  • Ollie Watkins and Ben Brereton Diaz to score
  • Gustavo Hamer and Jack Robinson to be booked

Bet Builder pays 33/1

Over 3.5 goals

Sheffield United have been involved in some high-scoring, barnstorming games recently. Their last three matches have ended 2-2, 5-2 and 2-2, while Aston Villa’s 3-1 loss to Newcastle United raises my hopes that this will be a high-scoring encounter. Meanwhile, Villa have the quality to tear Sheffield United apart if they wish, with Ollie Watkins back amongst the goals in midweek.

Ollie Watkins and Ben Brereton Diaz to score

Speak of the devil, we’re also backing Watkins to get on the scoresheet at Bramall Lane. If this turns out to be the high-scoring encounter I expect it to be, then it makes perfect sense in my eyes to back the England international to score. He has already scored ten league goals this term, notched another in midweek against Newcastle and will be keen to capitalise on by far the leakiest defence in the Premier League.

Sheffield United have conceded a whopping 54 goals already this season, nine more than the second-worst defence, Burnley. You can see why we are expecting goals. On the other hand though, the Blades have looked sharper in front of goal since Ben Brereton Diaz arrived in January. The wide forward has scored two goals in two Premier League games from the left, and should be United’s biggest threat once again.

Backing the two key forwards to score in what should be an open game makes sense on paper.

Gustavo Hamer and Jack Robinson to be booked

Sheffield United are going to have to show some fight here, and as a result I believe they will pick up several bookings. Tough-tackling midfielder Gustavo Hamer, and centre-back Jack Robinson have both already picked up seven yellows apiece this term, with Robinson getting booked again in the defeat to Crystal Palace.

Wilder likes his teams to be aggressive, and against superior opposition, they are going to have to make clever tactical fouls to stop counter-attacks. As a result, I think adding these two to get booked into the mix makes sense, and gives us a total bet builder price of 33/1.
