Sevilla vs Getafe Prediction: Hosts heading for another frustrating result

Last season was one to forget for Sevilla as they finished 14th in La Liga - their lowest position since returning to the top-flight in 2001 - and while fans may have been thinking it couldn’t get any worse, Garcia Pimienta’s men have started the new campaign dreadfully.
Los Nervionenses sit 19th on just two points from four games and a visit from a resolute Getafe side is unlikely to see them turn their woeful form around on Saturday. Read on for my Sevilla vs Getafe prediction, as well as the latest team news and match odds.
Team News
Loic Bade, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Suso are all sidelined for Sevilla with injuries and the hosts will also have to make do without Saul Niguez, who is serving the final match of his two-game suspension.
Borja Mayoral is Getafe’s only confirmed absentee, although they have plenty of injury doubts. Omar Alderete was forced off in Paraguay’s shock win over Brazil, Bertug Yildirim was also forced off on international duty and loanee Alvaro Rodriguez is another who needs to be assessed.
Sevilla are narrow 13/10 favourites for this tie, with Getafe 5/2 and the draw available at 2/1.
Goals are far from assured with two misfiring sides in action, which is why over 2.5 is 6/4 and both teams to score is 11/10.
Should there be a goal, Sevilla’s Kelechi Iheanacho, formerly of Premier League outfit Leicester, is the 11/2 favourite to open the scoring.
Draw @ 2/1
Looking at Sevilla’s form, it is difficult to work out exactly why they are favourites for this match given they are winless in eight league games - a run which includes six losses, four of those coming at home.
They have shown little under Pimienta to suggest they have it in them to win a match anytime soon and Getafe, masters of the draw, could add to the growing frustration in the stands at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Jose Bordalas is known for his pragmatic approach and that is already shining through this term as Getafe have drawn all three matches so far, taking a point from Real Sociedad and Athletic Bilbao in that run.
Getafe will hold no fears ahead of this trip given they won this fixture 3-0 last term, however a win may prove beyond them this time.
Sevilla are in woeful form but their last three defeats at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan have come against Barcelona, Villarreal and Girona, three sides occupying the top-five spots in La Liga right now, so they can earn their first home point of the campaign against Getafe.

Sevilla to have the most booking points @ 8/5
Bordalas’ sides are usually renowned for their physical approach yet, in a strange turn of events, his Getafe players have been extremely good at keeping their cool this season.
Getafe, along with Las Palmas, have the least yellow cards in La Liga this season with just three, so it is interesting to see them come into this clash as favourites to pick up more booking points than their hosts.
Sevilla have picked up nine yellow and a red in their four matches this term, suggesting their players are clearly frustrated following a dreadful start to the campaign.
Given Los Rojiblancos have received more cards than Getafe in the last two meetings between the pair, it could pay to back a frustrated Sevilla to pick up more booking points than their visitors once again.
