Servette vs Viktoria Plzen Prediction: Plzen to learn their lesson

Viktoria Plzen have a point to prove as they head to Geneva on Wednesday (20:00 BST) to take on Swiss side Servette in the Champions League Second Qualifying Round. The Czech side dominated the first leg last week on home soil and were favourites to prevail, only for Samuel Mraz to fire Servette in front in the 63rd minute and hand the visitors a 1-0 win.

Both teams dropped points at the weekend and will look to bounce back at the first attempt at Stade de Geneve.

Servette midfielder David Douline is expected to miss out through injury, while manager Thomas Haberli will also be without Lamine Fomba.

The hosts will once again rely on Miroslav Stevanovic, who registered 14 goals and 10 assists last season in 38 Swiss Super League matches.

Viktoria Plzen boss Miroslav Koubek has been unable to call upon the services of Cheick Souare since January, while Lukas Hejda is also unavailable.

After smashing Pardubice 5-1 earlier this month in their first game of the new league campaign, they were beaten by Servette and held to a 1-1 draw by Jablonec.

They have had a minimum of 14 shots in each of those three ties, and they had an xG rating of 2.00 against Servette.

Koubek will have watched in disbelief at how his team did not beat Servette and they should bounce back this week.

Viktoria Plzen have scored in six of their last eight away matches in Europe and the way they outclassed Servette in the first leg suggests they should respond and come out on top this week.

Viktoria Plzen's disappointing performances have been down to their inability to keep clean sheets and they should struggle to shut out Servette.

Servette are unbeaten in four consecutive matches at home and they even managed to score against Young Boys in a 3-1 defeat on Saturday, despite being reduced to 10 men after eight minutes.

The hosts know they can score against their visitors and it should be another entertaining battle on Wednesday.
