Seattle Sounders vs Atletico Madrid Bet Builder Tips: Cristian to keep on shooting

Atletico Madrid made a disastrous start to their 2025 Fifa Club World Cup campaign last Sunday, suffering a 4-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Pasadena, California. Alongside the Rojiblancos on zero points are Seattle Sounders, who lost their Group B opener 2-1 to Brazilian side Botafogo.
On Thursday (23:00 BST, DAZN), the two teams meet at the American outfit's Lumen Field. Below are my Seattle Sounders vs Atletico Madrid Bet Builder Tips, as I combine four selections for a 12/1 payout.
Seattle Sounders vs Atletico Madrid Bet Builder Tips
- Total Goals Over/Under 2.5 - Over
- Seattle Sounders Total Shots - Over 8.5
- Cristian Roldan (SEA) Total Shots - 2+

Total Goals Over/Under 2.5 - Over
Group A failed to produce a single goal in the two opening games, as Inter Miami's 0-0 with Al Ahly was followed by the same scoreline in Palmeiras v FC Porto.
Group B, on the other hand, saw seven goals scored last Sunday - four between PSG and Atletico, and three between Botafogo and the Sounders.
With both Atletico and the Sounders losing their opening game, Thursday's contest between the two takes on added significance. Neither can afford to lose, and both ought to go for all three points, really, which should set us up nicely for an entertaining tussle in Seattle.
Over 2.5 goals has landed in the Sounders' last three games, and the same can be said for Atletico; in fact, the Colchoneros have seen 4+ goals scored in each of their last three, and four of their last five.
The Spanish side's defence was torn to shreds last weekend, and while PSG are on a different level to the Sounders, the MLS club should be buoyed by their goal against Botafogo, which marked their sixth consecutive game on the scoresheet at Lumen Field.
The Sounders will enjoy home advantage again on Thursday, which should help to bridge the considerable gap in quality between the sides and give themselves a chance of breaching Atletico's back line.
Whether they can score or not, given they themselves have conceded three goals in two of their last three matches, I think over 2.5 goals is achievable between these two teams.
Seattle Sounders Total Shots - Over 8.5
The Sounders racked up 23 efforts at goal against Botafogo, helped hugely by the Brazilian side going two goals up in the 44th minute.
Something similar could transpire on Thursday, with Atletico expected to dominate and take the lead.
Seattle Sounders vs Atletico Madrid Odds
PSG recorded 16 efforts against Atletico in the opening game of Group B, and the Madrid side have conceded 9+ shots in three of their last four outings.
The Sounders will be eliminated from the tournament if they lose here, so expect them to go all-out attack towards the end if they are behind.
Seattle Sounders vs Atletico Madrid Bet Builder Stats
- Seattle Sounders recorded 23 shots against Botafogo
- Cristian Roldan (SEA) was responsible for four of those efforts
- Rodrigo De Paul (ATM) made three tackles before his 62nd-minute substitution against PSG
Cristian Roldan (SEA) Total Shots - 2+
Sounders midfielder Cristian Roldan hasn't been a prolific goalscorer in recent seasons, netting three in 20 MLS appearances in 2023, two in 37 last year, and just one in 17 so far this season.
However, on Monday, it was his 75th-minute strike that gave his side hope in their game against Botafogo.
It was the 30-year-old's second shot of the match, having seen an effort blocked 24 minutes earlier. Two minutes after his goal, though, he had a header saved, and he racked up his fourth and final shot of the contest in the first minute of stoppage time.
The American is averaging 1.2 shots per game in the MLS this year, and he's recorded 2+ shots in five of his 16 competition starts.
He should take great confidence from Monday's meeting with Botafogo, and while another goal might be pushing it, a couple of shots is easily achievable.
Rodrigo De Paul (ATM) Total Tackles - 2+
It will be interesting to see how many changes Diego Simeone makes to his Atletico starting XI on Thursday, following last Sunday's debacle in Pasadena. The Argentine made one of his substitutions at half-time against PSG, and used up another three in the 62nd minute, when he took off compatriot Rodrigo De Paul and two others.
De Paul may now be fearing for his starting spot, but I think he has enough credit in the locker to be given another crack here.
Should the 31-year-old midfielder get the nod from the off, he is an easy pick to make two tackles, having made three before being hooked at the Rose Bowl last weekend.
He averaged 1.9 tackles per game in the 2024/25 Uefa Champions League, and at another summer tournament in the USA last year, the 2024 Copa America, he averaged 2.2 tackles per game.
