Scotland vs Croatia Prediction: Back this 10/1 Correct Score at Hampden on Friday

We take a break from our usual Scottish Premiership articles to focus on Scotland’s latest game in the UEFA Nations League. Steve Clarke’s men enjoy home advantage against Croatia but know the pressure is on them to make it count and register a first win in Group 1.
Will the hosts give their long-suffering fans something to cheer at Hampden on Friday evening from 19:45? The game will be streamed live on YouTube and our in-form tipster Frank Monkhouse arrives fresh from landing a winning acca last weekend. He previews the encounter and takes you his Scotland vs Croatia Predictions...
Scotland prepare for game five of their Group 1 campaign in a race to avoid the wooden spoon. The Scots enter with their stats showing one draw and three defeats from their previous outings, with four goals scored and seven conceded.
They are the only winless team in the pool, have scored the fewest goals, and carry the second-worst defence. Victory in Glasgow could put them level on four points with third-place Poland, who face the unenviable task of visiting Portugal.
Croatia arrive at Hampden sitting second in a competitive pool. Their stats show two wins, one draw, and a defeat, with seven goals scored and six conceded. They lost their opening match against Portugal but have been unbeaten since, collecting seven of the nine points up for grabs.
An away win would cement the silver medal position. Winning the group remains a possibility for Zlatko Dalic’s team, but that requires all three points on Friday.
Here, we have a meeting of the bottom club playing at home that lost each of their opening three games at this level, including a 2-1 defeat at the Stadion Maksimir.
Scotland took the lead in that game through Ryan Christie on 32 minutes but left empty-handed following a rapid reply from Igor Matanovic and an Andrej Kramaric winner with 70 minutes on the clock. Fancy a revenge win for Clarke and co? Back Scotland at 23/10 with Betfred.
Croatia showed great character in fighting back and winning last month’s Nations League meeting with Scotland. That victory moved the head-to-head stats to two wins for each nation, with three games ending in a draw.
The visitors have won each of the last two renewals of this fixture, including a 3-1 at this venue at the delayed Euro 2020 competition. Fancy the three-in-a-row? You can back Croatia to win on Friday at 6/5, or try another draw at the 12/5, available on the Betfred website and mobile app.
When we convert these prices into implied odds, it shows that our traders think the home side have a 30% probability of winning the game. The visitors come in at a 46% chance, with the draw rated at 29%.
Both teams to score
Scotland may be without a win so far, but they’ve been competitive in their previous four games, proving they belong at this level, mixing it in Group 1 company. The Scots scored two at Hampden before conceding late in a 3-2 defeat to Poland.
They netted once in a 2-1 loss away to Portugal and found the net again when losing 2-1 in Croatia.
Keeping that run of form in mind, we’re backing both teams to score in this game, a bet that will do a job in your weekend football accumulators. Taking both teams to score at least once would’ve earned you a profit in four of the seven meetings of these teams and each of the last two.
It was also a winner in Croatia’s two games played last month, including a 3-3 draw away to Poland in their most recent start. Follow the stats and back more goals in Glasgow.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
Scotland 2-1 Croatia
Looking for a bet at greater odds? You can follow our thinking and back Scotland to win 2-1 in the correct score at an attractive 10/1.
Regular followers of my articles know we’ve landed our fair share of correct score winners already this season and bagged a 12/1 Scottish football treble last Saturday, meaning we enter this match with confidence and profits.
The game in Croatia was competitive, and it’s worth noting that Scotland scored first that day. They also opened the scoring in a 2-1 defeat in Lisbon, drew with Portugal at this venue, and conceded a 97th-minute penalty in Glasgow when losing 3-2 to Poland on matchday one.
Back Scotland to turn the tables on their guests with a 2-1 win.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
