Saudi Arabia vs Thailand Prediction: Green Falcons to fly away in Group F

The top two sides in Group F of the 2023 AFC Asian Cup meet in Al Rayyan on Thursday afternoon (KO, 15:00), as leaders Saudi Arabia face Thailand at the Education City Stadium.

It's not been vintage stuff from Saudi Arabia but Roberto Mancini's side have a 100% record so far after coming from behind to secure a dramatic late 2-1 win over Oman, before dispatching Kyrgyzstan - who were down to nine men by the 52nd-minute - by two goals to nil.

The Green Falcons now require a draw to finish first in the group and set up a Round of 16 tie with the runner-up of Group E, likely to be either Jordan or South Korea.

Thailand stand in their way, though, with the War Elephants eyeing up a win which would see them leapfrog their opponents in the table.

Team News

Saudi Arabia don't appear to have any injury concerns in the squad, but Mancini must decide whether to make further alterations after making three changes to the starting XI that beat Kyrgyzstan on Sunday.

Theeraton Bunmathan will miss out for Thailand, though, as he serves a one-match ban for an accumulation of yellow cards in the War Elephants' first two games.

Match Odds

Saudi Arabia are 4/7 to remain perfect and pick up a third success of the group, with the draw at 5/2 and a victory for Thailand - which would see them crowned Group F winners - available at 9/2.

Both teams to score is backable at 11/10 and it's the same price (11/10) for over 2.5 goals.

Mancini's men suffered an early hit in their opener against Oman, with Salaah Al Yahyaei shocking the Saudis with a 14th-minute goal. The Green Falcons haven't conceded since that effort, though, and have only given up one further shot on target.

Saudi Arabia restricted Kyrgyzstan to a single shot in their last game, though the Central Asia nation were a man short after nine minutes, and down to nine before the hour mark.

Meanwhile, Thailand were unable to break the resistance of Oman in a goalless draw on Sunday afternoon, and managed only six shots.

They've also struggled against higher-ranked nations recently, losing 5-0 to Japan on New Year's Day and being thrashed 8-0 by Georgia last October.

Saudi Arabia should have enough to withstand any pressure from Thailand, who can still finish second even with a defeat in Al Rayyan.

The Al Hilal star has scored nine goals in 18 Saudi Pro League games this season, already matching his best-ever total set in 2021/22.

The 32-year-old is yet to get off the mark at the Asian Cup, however, despite starting both matches so far.

Al Dawsari does look a decent price to find his first of the tournament against Thailand, though, with the Southeast Asian country shipping multiple goals to Japan and Georgia within the last few months.

The winger has scored 22 goals in 80 caps for Saudi Arabia, including one apiece against Argentina and Mexico at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and can be the man for the big occasion again on Wednesday.
