Dundee Utd beat St Johnstone
We open the show at Tannadice, where Dundee United host St Johnstone. The home team start in seventh place following back-to-back draws in their opening two fixtures. They shared a four-goal thriller in the Dundee Derby on matchday one before battling to a 1-1 in Dingwall against Ross County. United did secure a useful win when beating St Mirren 1-0 at this venue last weekend in the League Cup, and we expect another narrow victory.
It’s an important season for St Johnstone as they aim to build on last term’s 10th-place finish. A spot in the top six is the dream for Saints fans, and they’ve started well enough, following a 2-1 home defeat against Aberdeen and a surprise 3-0 victory at Rugby Park. The visitors also lost 2-0 in the cup to Rangers last time out, and we’re picking United to turn up the heat.
Dundee beat Hibs
We’re off to the capital and Easter Road, where Hibs play Dundee, and we’re backing the visitors to silence the home support. The Hibees are joint bottom of the league after losing their opening two games, failing to find the net while conceding five goals. Hibs are also out of the League Cup following a 3-1 defeat at Parkhead.
Dundee arrive in Edinburgh with their stats showing one win and a draw from two games, picking up four of the six points available. They drew the Dundee Derby but responded in style to defeat Hearts 3-1 at Dens Park and Airdrie 6-1 in the League Cup. Take a chance on the visitors at attractive odds.

Falkirk beat Partick Thistle
Dropping down to the Scottish Championship and, we’re hopeful Falkirk can continue their strong start to the season by beating Partick Thistle to delight the home support. The locals recorded back-to-back wins in their opening fixtures, beating Queens Park and Dunfermline. They also pulled off a shock by eliminating Hearts from the League Cup with a surprise 2-0 victory at this venue. We fancy more of the same.
It’s difficult to know what to expect from Glasgow’s third team this season. They gave little away in their first two Championship starts, drawing with Morton and then losing to Raith Rovers. The Jags have yet to score a goal, and we’re happy to oppose them with an opponent full of confidence ahead of this game.
Ayr United beat Raith Rovers
We wrap things up at Somerset Park, where Ayr United aim to score a valuable home win over Raith Rovers. The Honest Men sit top of the league with three wins in their opening three games, scoring ten goals and conceding just two. They hit pole position last weekend when beating Hamilton 3-2 in an exciting match. The confidence that comes from being the early pace-setters should help guide them to a fourth win.
Raith Rovers are certainly no pushovers and should challenge for the playoff places this season. They lost their opening game to Airdrie but responded with a 1-0 win over Partick Thistle last time out. Rovers should make their presence felt, but we’re sticking with the team sitting on top of the division.
