The Scottish Premiership returns on Saturday, and with teams battling for points and positions across the board, we have an action-packed afternoon ahead. Rangers are the new leaders and aim to pull clear of the chasing pack with a home win while the bottom two clubs go head-to-head.

Betfred’s Scottish football writer, Frank Monkhouse, continues his quest for value in his latest weekend accumulator that involves three teams enjoying home comforts…

Saturday Scottish Football Accumulator Tips:

  • Back Kilmarnock to beat Aberdeen @ 23/20
  • Back Ross County to beat Livingston @ 6/5
  • Back St Mirren to beat St Johnstone @ 4/5
  • Overall Odds - 7.51/1

Leg 1 - Kilmarnock to beat Aberdeen @ 23/20

We start with a mouth-watering clash from Rugby Park, where Kilmarnock and Aberdeen clash on the artificial surface. Killie returns home after snatching a well-deserved draw in Glasgow at the home of the champions last weekend, ending 1-1 with Celtic following a stoppage-time equaliser from David Watson. Killie are now up to fourth place and remains unbeaten in four Premiership games.

Stand-in Aberdeen coach Neil Warnock is still finding his feet in Scottish football, and the surface here will give him plenty to think about. Still, one thing’s already obvious: the experienced Englishman has brought an entertaining and unpredictable brand of football north of the border.

The Dons have taken just two of the last nine points available, conceded seven goals, and fought back from 3-0 down to draw with Motherwell recently. They drew 2-2 at home to Hibs on Saturday, and that leaky defence edges us toward a home win.

Leg 2 - Ross County to beat Livingston @ 6/5

Another game that’s sure to keep fans guessing in the build-up comes from Dingwall, where Ross County host Livingston in what could be the most important game of the afternoon.

The home side are second from the bottom of the Premiership and have won only four games all season, losing each of their last four. They must dust themselves down for a home tie against the one team currently beneath them in the pecking order, Livingston.

David Martindale’s team has stumbled from one poor result to the next this season as the likeable coach battles to balance the books while building a team that’s good enough to compete, all on a shoestring budget. The Lions won last time, but that was only their third win of the season, and it came on the back of two defeats. The venue will be decisive in an otherwise close contest.

Leg 3 - St Mirren to beat St Johnstone @ 4/5

We wrap things up in Paisley, where a capable St Mirren side plans to make a quick-fire return to winning ways following defeat last time out. The Buddies start fifth in the league with 35 points on the board and know a home win over a relegation-threatened opponent could shunt them into the top four and the European places. At present, St Mirren and Kilmarnock will contest fourth behind Rangers, Celtic, and Hearts.

St Johnstone suffered a 3-1 home defeat to Rangers last weekend, conceding two penalties in the second half. That may sound harsh, but both spot-kicks were awarded following lengthy VAR checks, meaning the Saints' defence only has itself to blame.

Craig Levein cut a disappointed figure last Sunday, and that feeling of injustice could follow the Perth team to Paisley. We’re backing another home win.
