Dunfermline beat Stenhousemuir
We open our Saturday fivefold from the Scottish Cup with a bet on Dunfermline to win at home against Stenhousemuir. The locals are in a world of trouble in the Championship, currently sitting second from the bottom of the table. But the Pars will welcome the break from league action.
Dunfermline should have enough quality to beat an opponent from League One with a single victory in their previous five starts. Stenhousemuir are down on their luck, and you can back the home team from the higher division and hope they get us off to a flyer.
St Mirren beat QOS
Premiership St Mirren take on League One Queen of the South at Palmerston Park in Dumfries. The team from the top-level of Scottish professional football are the pre-match betting favourites to win on the road and progress to the next round. We’re backing them to live up to expectations.
QOS have won just one of their last four starts in League One, while St Mirren have lost their last four in the Premiership. Saturday is the ideal time for Stephen Robinson’s strugglers to return to winning ways, and the full-time side will get their name in the hat for the next phase.
Ross County beat Livingston
The Staggies versus the Lions in Dingwall, and we’re backing a home win for the Premiership side over their Championship opponents. Ross County know they won’t get things all their own way here as Livi were relegated from the top flight at the end of last season and are pushing hard for promotion from the Championship.
The locals have lost only one of their last five and this cup game comes at the perfect time. Back Ross County to win at home, adding to recent victories over Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.
Motherwell beat St Johnstone
It’s an all-Premiership tie in Perth as St Johnstone welcome Motherwell to McDiarmid Park for what’s sure to be a thrilling 90 minutes of action. The Saints enjoy the home advantage and will fancy their chances of progressing, but we’re sticking with the Steelmen.
St Johnstone are bottom of the league and have taken just one of the last 18 points available. Motherwell’s recent form isn’t much better, but they do boast two wins over Saturday’s opponent this season, securing a 2-1 victory home and away. Back the treble for Stuart Kettlewell.
Queens Park beat Montrose
We wrap things up with a bet on Championship Queens Park to beat League One Montrose in Glasgow. The home team are pushing for promotion to the Premiership and set up following a win and a draw in their last two games.
A promotion push and extended run in the national cup competition would be a great season for Queens Park, and we’re picking them to get the job done here. Montrose have won only one of their last five in League One and are without a victory in their previous three starts.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
