The Premiership makes way for the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup this weekend. You can follow our previews of Rangers’ long-awaited return to Ibrox when taking on Dundee on Saturday and Celtic vs Falkirk in Glasgow on Sunday.

Avoiding the uncertainty of the cup for our Saturday accumulator, Betfred’s Frank Monkhouse picks out three bets from the Championship, creating a treble at great odds. He’s picking wins for the Ton, Honest Men, and Accies.

Last week he was a Dundee win at Ross County away from an 11/1 win, can he go one better this week? Let's see with his Scottish Saturday Football Accumulator Tips...

Scottish Saturday Football Betting Tips

Morton to beat Airdrie

Cappielow Park hosts a battle at the wrong end of the Championship as Greenock Morton host Airdrieonians. Morton is the only team in the second tier of Scottish football yet to win a game. Their stats so far show three draws and two defeats, with three goals scored and five conceded.

The Ton are struggling to find the net, but it’s still very early in the campaign and few on Sinclair Street are reaching for the panic button just yet. Backing Morton to pick up their first win is risky, but they’re at home and are better than their current league position suggests. Manager Dougie Imrie has the tools to pull them clear of trouble.

Airdrieonians arrive in Inverclyde one place above their hosts in the pecking order, with one point more on the board. They have one win, a draw, and three defeats so far, claiming just one of the last dozen points available. Cappielow isn’t an easy place to visit at the best of times, and we expect the Diamonds to return to North Lanarkshire empty-handed.

Ayr United to beat Queens Park

Picking the first of two away wins in our weekend treble, we’re backing Ayr United to continue their impressive start by beating Queens Park in Glasgow. The visitors sit second in the league thanks to four wins and two draws in six games, scoring 14 goals and conceding four.

Bossed by former Celtic captain Scott Brown, the Honest Men followed four wins on the spin with back-to-back draws in their previous two. Saturday’s game looks like an ideal opportunity to make a timely return to winning ways.

Queens Park are certainly no pushovers on their patch and are capable of matching any team at this level. They start round six of the season in fourth place following two wins, a draw, and a pair of defeats, scoring five goals but conceding six. They must improve in attack if they are to challenge for the prize places and push for promotion, but they come up against an organised and fit opponent in Ayr United. Back the away win at decent odds.

Hamilton to beat Raith Rovers

Our second away win and final pick of Saturday’s Scottish Championship treble sees us throw our support behind Hamilton in Kirkcaldy when visiting Raith Rovers. The home team are rock bottom of the division with one win and four defeats, scoring just one goal while leaking six. Rovers could be in for a long season if they don’t improve in attack, and we’re taking Hamilton to pile pressure on their hosts.

Hamilton are no world-beaters themselves and are stuck in mid-table after winning one and drawing two of their first six games. Accies must improve if they are to do us a favour on the road, but they have collected four of the last nine points available, and we’re happy to give them another chance against the lowest-ranked team in the division.
