Hearts beat Dundee
We picked Hearts to beat Kilmarnock last weekend, and the Jambos lived up to expectations, edging Killie by the odd goal in five at Tynecastle. I’m happy to stick with Neil Critchley’s side who are improving and climbing the Premiership. The visitors scrambled off the bottom of the league and start in ninth thanks to a fantastic five-match unbeaten run, including three wins and a draw in their last four. Hearts look more like themselves in 2025, and we keep the faith in the City of Discovery.
Beating Dundee at Dens Park will be no easy task, with the home side in the mix for a top-six finish. But Tony Docherty’s men have won only two of their previous six in this competition and are level on 27 points with their hosts. We’ll be made to work hard for our profits here, but the stats show Hearts won 2-0 when the teams last met and have improved since then. Take a chance on an in-form side at excellent odds.
Hibs beat Aberdeen
From backing one Edinburgh side to following another, we’re taking Hibs to beat Aberdeen at Easter Road in a mouth-watering clash. The Hibees, similarly to their neighbours, suffered a woeful start to the season and occupied 12th in the Premiership earlier this winter. They’re now in the top six thanks to three wins and three draws in their previous six. The locals enjoy an extended unbeaten run and beat Motherwell 3-1 when last at Easter Road in the league.
Aberdeen have failed to defeat Saturday’s opponents in two previous attempts this season, drawing 3-3 at Easter Road in November before losing 3-1 at Pittodrie a month later. The Dons are fourth in the Premiership but are falling fast, taking one of the last 18 points available to them. Five defeats and a draw make Aberdeen easy to oppose and we do just that, hoping Hibs pile on the pressure.
St Mirren beat St Johnstone
A battle of the Saints in Paisley, and we’re backing St Mirren to secure a valuable three points by beating St Johnstone. The locals dropped out of the top six following four defeats on the bounce, but they returned to winning ways when blasting Aberdeen 3-0 in the Granite City last time. Saturday’s home game against a struggling opponent gives St Mirren a golden opportunity to score back-to-back wins and get their quest for a top-six finish on track.
St Johnstone bus from Perth to Paisley stuck hard to the bottom of the league after winning just five of their previous 24 games, suffering 16 defeats and conceding 48 goals. Simo Valakari’s strugglers beat Motherwell 2-1 at McDiarmid Park last time, but they’re easy to oppose on the road, and that’s precisely our approach in Paisley. Bet on St Mirren for back-to-back league wins at a fair price.
Odds correct at time of publishing.
