Salford vs Cheltenham Prediction: Oluwo to inspire Ammies success

Salford City missed out on the League Two playoffs by a single point last season and manager Karl Robinson will be eager to get there this time after some shrewd summer signings were made.
They have made a solid start, with three wins in five games, and now have the chance to earn another three-pointer as basement club Cheltenham Town rock up at the Peninsula Stadium for this Friday night showdown (20:00 BST, live on Sky Sports+). Below you will find my Salford vs Cheltenham predictions, accompanied by the latest team news and match odds.

Team News
Salford secured another new face this week as former Wales Youth and Under-21 international defender Brandon Cooper completed a move from Leyton Orient.
Fellow newbie Matt Butcher debuted off the bench in the loss at Walsall but the Ammies remain without Kelly N'Mai and Dan Chesters, while Ossama Ashley and Haji Mnoga are nearing fitness and could be in contention.
Cheltenham boss Michael Flynn suggested there is a need for reinforcements after the EFL Cup loss at Cardiff in midweek.
Tommy Backwell enjoyed a solid cameo and joins fellow sub Mark Barber in hoping for more game time. The Robins appear to have no fresh injury worries in their threadbare squad.
Salford vs Cheltenham Stats
- Cheltenham have lost six of seven games in all competitions this season
- The home side has prevailed in the last five meetings between these sides
Salford City are 8/13 to earn their fourth League Two win in six attempts this season. Cheltenham have no points from five games and are 9/2, while the draw is priced at 3/1.
Over 2.5 goals can be backed at 4/5, while both teams to score at the Peninsula Stadium is 4/5.
Salford to win & under 3.5 goals @ 13/10
The home side has prevailed in the last five meetings of these sides and Salford are well placed to continue the sequence.
The Ammies have lost to pacesetters Crewe on the opening day and away at Walsall last time, but they won three on the trot between those reverses.
They next face the bottom club, with Cheltenham having lost all five games, scoring only once this season. Robins boss Michael Flynn is calling for reinforcements and may get them, but another defeat may ensue first.
Three of the four previous meetings between these clubs in Salford have yielded no more than two goals, while only one of the seven meetings between these sides has featured over 3.5 goals. A low-scoring home win is forecast.

Adebola Oluwo anytime goalscorer @ 7/1
Defender Adebola Oluwo was a summer signing for Salford after helping Barnet win the National League last time.
The 25-year-old scored six league goals last season and has two on his CV already for his new club.
He's a menace at set-pieces, powering home a header in a 2-1 win over Notts County at Meadow Lane, but showed his subtlety when he volleyed in neatly from Ben Woodburn's cross for the only goal in the win over Newport County 10 days ago at Rodney Parade.
It shouldn't be long before he delights the Ammies faithful with a goal at the Peninsula Stadium.
