Rouen vs Monaco Prediction: Visitors to win this one comfortably

Rouen welcome Monaco to the Stade Robert Diochon in the last 16 of the Coupe de France on Thursday evening (19:45).

The third-tier hosts head into the match having lost their last two matches in the Championnat National. But after pulling off an upset against Toulouse in the last round of the cup, they will look to take down an even bigger fish in Monaco.

The visitors are also not in the best of form, having failed to win in their last three outings in Ligue 1.

Rouen vs Monaco Betting Tips

Rouen are 15/2 to pull off a huge upset here. A draw can be backed at 4/1, while Monaco are the clear favourites at the short price of 2/7.

Both teams to score is on offer at 4/5 and over 2.5 goals is priced at 4/9.

Team News

Rouen are still without long-term absentees Adon Gomis and Ruffice Amede Kabongo for this cup tie.

Monaco forward Folarin Balogun is expected to be out for another week or so with a shoulder problem, while Breel Embolo and Caio Henrique are sidelined in the long-term with cruciate ligament tears.

Striker Wissam Ben Yedder netted a hat-trick in the last round against Rodez and has scored four of Monaco's five goals in the Coupe de France this term. He is expected to lead the line again on Thursday.

Over 2.5 Monaco goals @ EVS

Although Rouen should not be underestimated after eliminating Toulouse on penalties in the last round, there is a huge gulf in class between Les Violets and Monaco.

Adi Hutter's men have been on a slide of late in Ligue 1 but they still remain one of the strongest sides in the country. They are full of quality in attack with the likes of Ben Yedder, Takumi Minamino and Aleksandr Golovin, so they should find goals easy to come by against their third-tier opponents.

Monaco to win both halves @ 13/8

That same point applies here. Hutter are going through a bit of a rough patch in the league but the Coupe de France gives them an opportunity to reset and instil some confidence back into the players. That shouldn't be too much of an issue for Ben Yedder, who has scored nine goals in his last six appearances in all competitions.

He is currently carrying his side with his contributions in front of goal, and while they will need to step up and aid him, he has the quality to win this tie single-handedly just like he did against Rodez.

Ben Yedder is full of confidence and one of the most in-form players in France right now. Rouen are going to be in for a very tough evening in keeping him quiet as he is the key for this selection landing.
