Ross County vs Celtic Prediction: We’ll have goals galore in the Highlands

Celtic visit Ross County at Global Energy Stadium on Saturday (12:30), and you can follow all the action live on Sky Sports as the reigning Scottish Premiership champions look to pull further clear of the chasing pack.

Despite boasting the home advantage and their best form of the season, Ross County have been written off as a no-hoper in the betting. Traders don’t seem too impressed by the turnaround in form and believe the Staggies will slip to their 10th defeat in 23 games, their first since losing 2-1 here against St Mirren three weeks ago. 

Supporters take confidence from the team’s form since, beating Dundee 3-0 and drawing 2-2 with Hearts before opening the year with away wins at Pittodrie and Rugby Park. You can back County at 16/1, or a 5.9% chance, on the Betfred website and mobile app.

Celtic wasted no time getting their season back on track following that horror show in Govan, where they began 2025 with a painful defeat. Despite being the club’s first loss of the season and Rodgers’ only Old Firm defeat to Philippe Clement, fans were unhappy, with many demanding the signing of Kieran Tierney from Arsenal.

Celtic may have drawn a blank in the derby, but they’ve had no problems finding the net this term. The current stats show the visitors have 57 goals, at least 19 more than any other team in the division. Celtic will add to that tally in this game, with a high-scoring match expected. We’re backing over 2.5 goals at Victoria Park, and that’s sure to be popular in weekend accumulators. 

Flicking through the head-to-head stats, we see betting on over 2.5 goals would’ve landed you a profit in four of the previous five meetings of County and Celtic. The pair have met twice already in the Premiership this season, with Celtic winning 2-1 here in October and 5-0 in Glasgow late last year. Shoot for more of the same, and hope this game lives up to expectations, delivering at least three goals for both teams combined.

Interestingly, County took the lead through Ronan Hale from the penalty spot when Celtic were here in early October. But the champions rallied to win the game thanks to goals from Alistair Johnston on 76 and Nicolas Kuhn on 88 minutes. Anything like a repeat performance will do us nicely.
