Real Sociedad vs Sevilla Prediction: Sixth time unlucky for visitors

Real Sociedad and Sevilla kick off La Liga's second selection of Sunday, with the match at Reale Arena this weekend starting at 15:15.

La Real will arrive into this one confident of picking up another positive result at home after taking 14 points from their first seven games of the season in San Sebastian, while the poor away record of their visitors - who are yet to win on the road this term - will only add to their belief.

Below we have previewed this clash and come up with a couple of betting selections for you to consider...

Real Sociedad vs Sevilla Betting Tips:

  • Real Sociedad to win @ 8/11
  • Over 2.5 goals @ EVS

Team News

Andre Silva and Kieran Tierney are both edging closer to fitness for Real Sociedad, while Brais Mendez - who scored in both games against Sevilla last season - is back after serving a suspension last time out.

The visitors received a boost this week with the return to training of starting goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, who has missed Sevilla's last two games, but Suso and Erik Lamela are both injured.

Match Odds

The home side are 8/11 to win this match, with the draw priced at 5/2. A win for Sevilla is available at 4/1.

It's 10/11 for both teams to score and 4/5 for BTTS - NO.

Real Sociedad to win @ 8/11

It's been a great start to the season for Real Sociedad, who are impressing on both the domestic and continental front.

A strong record at the Reale Arena has been crucial to their current standing of sixth in La Liga, with their only home defeat a narrow 1-0 to reigning champions Barcelona. Portuguese giants Benfica also came unstuck in San Sebastian in the Champions League, while Italian title-holders Inter were held to a goalless draw there in September.

The only major grievance Imanol Alguacil can have with his side is the 1-1 draw with Celta Vigo on August 19th, with the same scoreline at home to Girona a week earlier not looking so bad with the Catalonian club top of the league.

Meanwhile, Sevilla are still yet to pick up three points away from home in La Liga. They lost two of their first three on the road, and while they have avoided defeat in their last two, both have been against sides ranked lower than them (1-1 at 16th-placed Celta Vigo, 2-2 at Cadiz in 18th).

Diego Alonso may be hopeful of his side clawing their way to a seventh league draw of the season on Sunday, but with their respective starts to the current campaign, it's hard to see past a win for Real Sociedad this weekend.

Over 2.5 goals @ EVS

San Sebastian has seen some of the most exciting games of the La Liga season so far, with the home side having already beaten teams 5-3 (Granada) and 4-3 (Getafe) there. In fact, only four stadiums have seen more goals than the Reale Arena's 24, with Real Sociedad responsible for scoring 15 of them.

Alguacil's team have scored in every home game except the Barcelona defeat, while Sevilla have kept just one clean sheet on their travels. The Andalusian side have found the net in three of their five away games, though, and half of their league games have seen over 2.5 goals, while Real Sociedad have seen this bet win in seven of their 13.

Both games last season produced 2-1 wins for La Real, and I fancy at least three goals again here.
