Atletico Madrid will travel across the Spanish capital when they meet Rayo Vallecano on Monday evening (20.30) at the Estadio de Vallecas.

Rayo Vallecano are currently in second place in the La Liga standings and have stepped up to the plate so far this season. The Madrid-based outfit cruised to a 2-0 victory over Granada last week and will be confident ahead of this fixture.

Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, are in fifth place in the table at the moment and are yet to hit their stride this season.

Rayo Vallecano vs Atletico Madrid Prediction

  • Atletico Madrid to win and both teams to score @ 16/5
  • Antoine Griezmann to score anytime @ 9/5

Team News

Rayo Vallecano will once again be unable to call upon former Tenerife striker Andres Martin on Monday night after picking up a knock in pre-season.

Pathe Ciss could be handed a recall here after coming off the bench and finding the net against Granada last week.

As for Atletico, they will be unable to call upon the likes of Koke, Reinildo Mandava and Jose Maria Gimenez.

Yannick Carrasco is also a doubt with a muscular problem, while Joao Felix is unlikely to feature due to speculation surrounding his future.

Atletico Madrid to win and both teams to score @ 16/5

Atletico have conceded in seven of their last eight La Liga wins and they’ve won 10 of the last 12 clashes between these two sides.

The visitors are playing more on the front foot and should exploit a Rayo side who concede too many chances, but the hosts’ strong start suggests they can find the net.

Rayo Vallecano were impressive away from home last time out, so they’ll be confident coming into this game, but Atletico’s quality should see them take home the three points.

Antoine Griezmann to score anytime @ 9/5

The French forward has yet to open his account for this season but he managed to score 15 goals in 38 La Liga matches last season.

He’s a mainstay in the Atletico lineup, and has proven himself to be a reliable goalscorer for the Madrid outfit.

I fancy him to find the back of the net here, especially since Joao Felix is unlikely to feature.
