It may be early August, but Rangers are already into the thick of the 2024/25 campaign, with Gers preparing for their third game in seven days. Lodging at Hampden while Ibrox is being renovated following a delay, Rangers aim to beat Motherwell and move onto four points following a hard-fought draw at Tynecastle last weekend.

Motherwell claimed victory in their previous game against Gers in Glasgow and fancy more of the same. Will the Steelmen score a shock win, or will the locals get off the mark at the second time of asking? You can make predictions and bet now using the Betfred website and user-friendly mobile app.

Rangers vs Motherwell Odds

Despite a summer of upheaval, Rangers were asked to hit the ground running when visiting Hearts in the Scottish Premiership before jetting off to face Dynamo Kyiv in a UEFA Champions League qualifier in Poland on Tuesday evening.

Both games ended in a draw, with the match at Tynecastle producing a goalless finish before Cyriel Dessers scored with the last kick of the ball to bank a 1-1 in the third qualifying round first leg. Will Rangers win on their third attempt? You can back last season’s Premiership runners-up at 1/5.

Motherwell travel to the national stadium as the underdogs with many pundits, ex-players, and Betfred traders. But the Steelmen have reason to be confident and aren’t in Glasgow simply to make up the numbers.

Stuart Ketttlewell’s men shocked Clement’s troops when they left Ibrox with a 2-1 win in March, and they started this season with a 0-0 home draw against Ross County. Another draw is 6/1, with the away win trading at 12/1.

Both teams to score @ 5/6

Our first pick at Hampden is for both teams to score, and that would’ve landed you a return when Gers and Well last crossed paths. Backing these rivals to find the net at least once each in this fixture proved a smart approach in half of the last four renewals and seven of the previous ten. That trend is strong enough to attract our attention and we fancy this renewal to follow the stats. You can add both teams to score to your weekend accumulators and hope this fixture lives up to expectations.

After failing to score in Edinburgh on Saturday, Rangers improved in Poland on Tuesday, starting the game on the front foot and creating chances. Clement’s new-look side looks as good as ever going forward but seem to lack leadership and confidence at the back, just as they did last term. Motherwell must find huge improvement on their previous outing if they’re to win here, but they do have the players to hurt Rangers on the break.

Rangers 2-1 correct score @ 8/1

Having picked both teams to score for our main bet at Hampden on Saturday, we’re sticking with that approach as we offer our second pick at higher odds. We advise taking Rangers to win 2-1 in the correct score market at eye-catching odds.

Interestingly, 2-1 was the correct score in two of the last six games involving these sides, with no more than one goal the difference in two of the previous three meetings. Rangers will be sharper and fitter thanks to that midweek game, but the visitors will be fresher and hyped for a rare day out at Hampden. Expect a close but entertaining contest from the first whistle.
