The Scottish Premiership returns from the international break on Saturday with five fixtures, including an exciting encounter at Ibrox (15:00).

Betfred’s Frank Monkhouse is back with his preview and best bets.

Rangers vs Hibs Prediction

  • Rangers to win to nil @ 11/10
  • Rangers -2 on handicap @ 15/8

The international break is over, following a tough week for Scotland, as the Netherlands mauled Steve Clarke’s side in a friendly match.

Scottish Premiership action returns on Saturday from 15:00, with five games scheduled. Rangers host Hibs, and the locals could go a point clear of Celtic, who visit Livingston on Sunday. Home boss Philippe Clement will demand the overdue win needed to crank up the pressure on their neighbours.

Hibs are in Glasgow looking for revenge after suffering three crushing defeats against Rangers this season, including a 2-0 loss at Easter Road in the Scottish Cup less than three weeks ago.

The visitors are in the top six following a strong run of form but have Dundee breathing down their necks. Can Nick Montgomery’s side cause an upset?

Match Odds

Rangers are the home team, boast the better recent form and know they would return to the top of the Premiership with a win.

Gers arrive fully rested and raring to pick up the slack in the title race after their last Premiership match away to Dundee was postponed just before the international break.

That means the Gers were last in league action four weeks ago when they slipped to a shock 2-1 loss against Motherwell at this venue. They’ll be determined to avoid back-to-back home defeats in this competition.

Will Rangers make a timely return to winning ways to knock Celtic off their perch? The Betfred trading team certainly thinks so and offers Rangers are 1/4 - or a 80% chance - to claim victory before a capacity crowd at Ibrox.

Hibs haven’t beaten Gers since winning 3-1 here in November 2021 and would dearly love a repeat performance. The Hibs victory is 9/1, the draw priced at 11/2.

Rangers to win to nil @ 11/10

The Rangers fans will be out in force again, and there will be a sense of urgency in the stands after watching their team slip to defeat against Motherwell and a painful 1-0 loss in the Europa League Round of 16 when Benfica were in Scotland.

The team is ravaged by injury, with several wingers on the treatment table. It’s hoped things would have improved on the injury front during the break.

Clement has repeatedly said his team only concentrates on themselves. Still, the chance to make a quick-fire return to the top of the Premiership won’t be lost on the Belgian, who has enjoyed some quality time with his players on the training field, which is something of a luxury during a hectic campaign.

Rangers have played Hibs three times this season, scoring a combined nine goals without conceding. We’re hoping for more of the same when sticking with the trends for a home win to nil.

Rangers -2 on handicap @ 15/8

Aiming for an interest at better odds while sticking with Rangers, we support the home win -2 goals on the handicap. That same bet would’ve landed you a profit in two of the three meetings this season and in three of the previous five.

Rangers have dished out some painful defeats to Hibs in recent times, including a 4-1 at Easter Road last season and a memorable 4-0 victory at Ibrox earlier in this campaign.

John Lundstrum and Fabio Silva were both on the scoresheet that day, and we’re hoping for another convincing performance from the title challengers.
