There's everything to play for in Group D in the Copa Libertadores ahead of Tuesday's encounter between LDU Quito and Junior.

The Colombian visitors may be sitting top of the pile after four matches, but they are only two points better off than the Ecuadorian side who currently prop up the section with two games to go.

Both teams have won only one of their opening four games, but Junior are still unbeaten, having drawn their other three matches.

One of those draws came in the previous meeting between the two clubs, which ended in a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Metropolitano Roberto Melendez in Barranquilla in April. Carlos Bacca opened the scoring for Junior from the spot, only for Alex Arce to score a penalty of his own on the stroke of halftime. Below you can find my Quito vs Junior prediction.

Quinto vs Junior Betting Tips

  • Under 2.5 goals @ 10/11
  • Junior double chance @ 7/5

Quito vs Junior Match Odds

Quito have home advantage and are 1/2 favourites to pick up all three points and go top of the group, if only temporarily, while the draw is 11/4 and Junior are considered 5/1 outsiders.

Over 2.5 goals is available at 4/5, with under that total priced at 10/11, while both teams to score is available at 5/6.

Arce is 19/20 to score anytime in a second successive game against Junior, with Bacca the favourite to register for the visitors at 9/4.

Team news

Quito midfielders Marco Angulo and Sebastian Gonzalez will miss out after suffering serious knee injuries last month, while Alexander Alvarado and Oscar Zambrano are both suspended.

Junior coach Arturo Reyes has no new injuries to deal with as he looks to keep his team's unbeaten run going, which currently stands at six matches.

Under 2.5 goals @ 10/11

Even though there's plenty riding on this match, it is unlikely that we will witness a high-scoring affair. Junior may lead the way in Group D, but they have only scored six goals in four matches in the competition, but three of those came in the opener and they have not scored more than one in any of their last three - which all finished 1-1.

Arturo Reyes’s men have so far been unable to keep a clean sheet but have conceded no more than one goal in any of their four games, and Quito look unlikely to better their record of scoring just one goal in each game so far, with a 1-1 draw also worth considering at 7/1.

Quito vs Junior

Junior double chance @ 7/5

Junior have shown themselves to be a tough nut to crack, particularly of late, with a six-game unbeaten run including three clean sheets while allowing no more than one goal in any of the other three games.

Ecuadorian outfit Quito are unbeaten in four in the league, but they have struggled to transition that form into the Libertadores, with their last game in the competition a 2-1 defeat at Botafogo

Travelling teams can struggle on the road in the competition, but Junior's ability to keep things tight suggests they are the team to side with, particularly with the draw on side.

Reyes' side are unbeaten in their last eight games in the Copa Libertadores and having won 3-1 in Botafogo as well as drawing at Universitario, they should be confident of consolidating their position at the top of the group with a positive result.
