Psv vs arsenal

For the third consecutive season, PSV Eindhoven and Arsenal will lock horns in a European tussle (20:00, live on Prime Video), having previously met in both the Europa League and last season's Champions League.

The Dutch side have made it to this stage after knocking out Italian giants Juventus, while Arsenal's third-place finish in the League Phase allowed them to bypass the play-off round and move straight into the last 16. Read on for my PSV vs Arsenal predictions, as well as the latest team news and match odds.

Team News

Malik Tillman, Ricardo Pepi and Esmir Bajraktarevic are sidelined for the hosts, while former Arsenal marksman Lucas Perez is ineligible for Tuesday's clash. Mauro Junior has trained this week following a bone bruise and will be assessed prior to kick-off.

The Gunners are still yet to welcome Bukayo Saka or Gabriel Martinelli to first-team training, although the pair are due to return to action next month.

With Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus both out for the rest of the season, Mikel Arteta is also still without two key components to his attack with his side desperately short on goals.

Mikel Merino will likely be deployed as Arsenal's number nine for a third-straight game, while Myles Lewis-Skelly is available after being suspended for last week’s goalless draw at Nottingham Forest.

PSV vs Arsenal Odds

Arsenal are 1/1 to claim a crucial first-leg victory, giving them an implied win probability of 50%, while the hosts can be backed at 3/1 and a draw is currently priced up at 5/2.

Leandro Trossard leads the anytime goalscorer market, along with PSV's Luuk de Jong, at 23/10.

Double Chance - PSV or Draw @ 4/5

These two clubs have met four times during Mikel Arteta’s reign at Emirates Stadium with Arsenal failing to win on either of their trips to Eindhoven.

I believe that winless run will continue on Tuesday, as the Gunners arrive in the Netherlands on the back of a surprise defeat to West Ham United and a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest, all but confirming that their title charge is over.

PSV have lost only one of their last 17 home Champions League games, and they recently defeated a much-changed Liverpool side at the Philips Stadion and, as mentioned in the introduction, got the better of Juventus over two legs.

The Gunners have won only one away match against a current top-half Premier League opponent (which was Aston Villa in August) and are desperately shy of goals with the likes of Saka and Havertz out injured.

I think it's worth taking a punt on the double chance market here, as the Gunners may settle for a draw and try to finish the job at the Emirates.

Jurrien Timber to be shown a card @ 4/1

I've delved into the cards market for my second selection, and it features a man who used to ply his trade in the Eredivisie.

Jurrien Timber has committed at least one foul in four of his five Champions League starts with three coming in the away defeat to Inter Milan back in November.

The former Ajax defender has been cautioned seven times in the Premier League this term, but only once in Europe which eliminates any suspension fears. In addition, an opposition right-back has been booked in two of PSV's last three league games, which suggests he'll have his hands full against Noa Lang on Tuesday.
