Preston North End are clinging on to the coat-tails of the play-off race while Rotherham United look destined for Championship relegation ahead of their meeting at Deepdale.

North End will see this as an absolute must-win opportunity against a team who have collected one point out of a possible 30 and haven’t won away in over 16 months. Here are our Preston vs Rotherham predictions which include match odds and team news.

Preston vs Rotherham Betting Tips

  • Preston/Preston - Half-Time/Full-Time @ 13/10
  • Under 9.5 Corners @ EVS

Match Odds

Preston have failed to win 10 of their 19 home league games this season but unsurprisingly are 1/2 to beat the Championship’s bottom club.

Rotherham have lost 15 of their 19 away games, including each of their last five, and get a 5/1 quote. The draw is 11/4.

Team News

Brad Potts, restored to the right wing-back role at Plymouth after a lay-off, is a doubt for North End after tweaking his hamstring.

Key midfielder Ben Whiteman is out but Alan Browne has recovered from sickness and boss Ryan Lowe is confident Milutin Osmajic has recovered from a knock.

For Rotherham, key midfielder Christ Tiehi missed the 0-0 draw with Huddersfield and has been ruled out for the season. Lee Peltier, Grant Hall and Andre Green are also out.

Preston/Preston - Half-Time/Full-Time @ 13/10

Preston are just five points behind sixth place but with three good teams ahead of them they know any slip-ups now will be fatal.

That adds pressure to a team who have lost home games this season to QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and, earlier this month, Stoke, so they won’t be taking Rotherham for granted.

But the fact is that the Millers - who could be relegated on Monday - last tasted away success in November 2022 and their last two road trips have ended in 5-0 batterings at Coventry and Norwich.

Preston are the lowest scorers in the top 10 but they have lost only one of their last nine and have not trailed at half-time in any of their last 12, a sequence that includes an FA Cup loss at Chelsea.

The 90-minute North End price is short enough so it’s worth looking at the Half-Time/Full-Time market and having a bet on Preston/Preston. The Millers have only scored five first-half goals on their travels and look like a condemned group.

Under 9.5 Corners @ EVS

A routine Preston win is on the cards but not necessarily amid a flurry of corners - that’s not their - or Rotherham’s - style.

The Millers’ last three matches, hammerings at Coventry and Norwich and the 0-0 draw with Huddersfield, have produced nine, seven and seven corners respectively.

Leam Richardson’s men average 3.2 corners per away game. Preston, meanwhile, average 5.2 corners per home match and in their last game at Deepdale - a shock 2-1 loss to Stoke - they didn’t muster a single one.
