Preston North End and Cardiff City meet at Deepdale Stadium on Saturday afternoon (15:00), with both clubs looking to continue their push for the Championship play-offs after solid starts to the season.

The home side are currently in fifth after winning two in a row, while the visitors are ninth despite taking just one point from their last two games.

Preston vs Cardiff Betting Tips:

  • Both teams to score @ 10/11
  • Preston to win 2-1 @ 8/1

 Team News

On-loan Liverpool full-back Calvin Ramsay is back in training for Preston but this weekend probably comes too early for the 20-year-old to make his return from injury.

Emil Riis, Jack Whatmough, Greg Cunningham, Ali McCann and Andrew Hughes all missed the last game, too.

Cardiff's Manolis Siopis suffered an injury on international duty for Greece, so he looks to be a doubt for this weekend, while Aaron Ramsey has been out since September and is expected to miss out again.

Match Odds

Preston are 11/8 to win on Saturday, while the visitors can be backed at 15/8. The draw is available at 2/1.

Over 2.5 goals is priced at 5/4.

Both teams to score @ 10/11

Preston have scored in all but one of their games at Deepdale this season, but they are also yet to keep a clean sheet there, with 13 goals conceded in eight almost half of the amount they let in across 23 games in 2022/23 (28).

Cardiff have shown themselves to be a capable attacking outfit under Erol Bulut, scoring 25 goals in 16 league games, 10 of them away.

PNE haven't kept a clean sheet since September 2nd and I don't see that run ending here, but at home, they should certainly be confident of getting on the scoresheet themselves.

Both teams to score has won in seven of Preston's eight home games, and only Portman Road (Ipswich), St Mary's (Southampton) and Home Park (Plymouth Argyle) have witnessed more goals than Deepdale.

Preston to win 2-1 @ 8/1

A 2-1 Preston home win was almost a formality at the beginning of the season, as the Lilywhites won their first four games at Deepdale by that scoreline.

Their home form has deserted them since, though, with only one win in their last four there, although that did come in their most recent match there.

Cardiff have only won twice away - at Sunderland and struggling Huddersfield Town - while Preston's only home defeat came against West Brom in September.

But with the first bet in mind - both teams to score - I'm backing Preston to return to their roots and edge this encounter 2-1.
