West Ham vs Newcastle Stats-Based Bet Builder Tips: 16/1 pick

West Ham United are in a right pickle this season. A defeat at Elland Road leaves them 19th in the table, with just four points to their name from nine league fixtures. Relegation is a real possibility, so Nuno Espirito Santo will be desperate to pick up a win as they host Newcastle United on Sunday (14:00, Sky Sports Main Event).

Below you can find my West Ham vs Newcastle Stats-Based Bet Builder Tips as we search for another winner.

Newcastle to win

I really fear for the Hammers this season. They’ve had no positives to take all season so far and given the strong form of the newly-promoted trio, especially Sunderland, the relegation spots look wide open.

Worryingly, the poor form shown under Graham Potter shows no sign of abating under Nuno, with just one point in their last six. Meanwhile, Newcastle earned a big Carabao Cup win over Tottenham Hotspur in midweek and have now won five of their last six in all competitions. I think we will hear more boos at the London Stadium as the away side run away with all three points.

Football Odds

Nick Woltemade to score

Alexander Isak who? Newcastle fans may have been left concerned about the lack of goals this season once the controversial Swede had departed for Liverpool, but they’ve barely noticed his absence because of one man. Nick Woltemade joined for £65m but he’s settled into life in England perfectly, with four goals in six Premier League outings so far.

He should make light work of a West Ham defence that has conceded 20 top-flight goals this term. With Nuno unsure of his best formation or his best XI, Woltemade should take full advantage with a goal or two.

West Ham vs Newcastle Bet Builder Stats

  • Newcastle have won five of their last six
  • Nick Woltemade has four goals in six PL games
  • Lucas Paqueta has three yellow cards in his last five games

Lucas Paqueta to be carded

We all know Lucas Paqueta loves a yellow card in the West Ham midfield, but even in a more attacking role in recent weeks he has found himself in the book. Three yellows cards already this season, but notably, all three have come in the last five gameweeks.

Against a physical and tough-tackling Newcastle midfield, I can’t see Paqueta keeping it clean and he’s averaging 1.83 fouls per 90 in the Premier League this season. Expect that to rise here, and I think he’s a worthwhile addition to our Bet Builder.

West Ham vs Newcastle Odds

Anthony Gordon 2+ shots on target

We’ve seen how wide open West Ham can be this season, and I think some pace may cause them serious problems. Anthony Gordon is averaging 2.80 shots per 90 in the Premier League this season and although he will need to up his on target average of 0.86, he’s coming up against such a weak defence.

I think Newcastle could score three or four at the London Stadium and Gordon will be peppering that home goal. This takes our Bet Builder to 16/1, which I think is worth a small stake.
