Sunderland vs Fulham Prediction: Black Cats to find home comforts

Sunderland ended a mini-run of two games without scoring as they secured a 1-0 away win at Oxford United in the FA Cup, and they will look to follow that up on home soil on Sunday as they host Fulham (14:00 GMT, Sky Sports Premier League).

Regis Le Bris is still without Granit Xhaka, but he is expected to return soon - although Reinildo remains out although his manager did say: “He felt something in his knee during the Liverpool game. The second diagnosis was more positive.”

Two of Kevin, Samuel Chukwueze, Harry Wilson and Oscar Bobb will start in the wide areas for Fulham, while Sander Berge, Emile Smith Rowe and Alex Iwobi should make up the midfield trio.

Sunderland are the slight favourites for this one, priced at 13/8 to take the win compared to Fulham’s 7/4. A draw is 23/10, over 2.5 goals is 11/10 and BTTS is 5/6.

Brian Brobbey and Rodrigo Muniz are joint-favourites to score first at 5/1.

Sunderland’s unbeaten Stadium of Light record came to an end against Liverpool in their last home match, but Le Bris is undaunted by that defeat. 

“I’d like us to start a new run. We were aware of the fragility of this sequence, because the Premier League is so demanding. We knew if it was broken, it didn’t mean we couldn’t be strong at home again. We might struggle at times, it’s normal, but we want to be proactive and positive at home.”

What we’ve seen from Sunderland this season at home has been wonderful, with seven wins and one draw on home soil so far. Given Fulham have lost eight of 13 on the road, I think I’ll back the Black Cats to win. 

Harry Wilson to get booked @ 4/1

Massive odds on offer here for Wilson to get carded and I’m not too sure why, so let’s take full advantage. Wilson has already picked up six yellow cards this season, which ranks him alongside Sasa Lukic and Joachim Andersen as the most-booked Fulham player. 

He is usually involved in fouls or being fouled, and although he is not a defender, he is going to have to offer his full-back some cover in this difficult away game. I’m going for the value with this pick.
