Premier League Stats & Bets for Week 9

  • Leeds United vs West Ham United
  • Friday, 20:00
  • Live on Sky Sports

Key stat: With just four points in eight matches, this is West Ham's worst ever start to a Premier League season, with Nuno Espirito Santo winless in all three of his matches as Hammers manager so far.

Suggested bet: There might have been a worse performance this season than West Ham's against Brentford on Monday night, but I certainly can't think of one; they absolutely stunk the place out and were lucky the visitors didn't have their shooting boots on. Nuno has had little impact on performance levels yet and a trip to Leeds under the Friday night lights wouldn't have been high on his list to get things going. With Daniel Farke's men odds-on to win, we'll add in Under 3.5 Goals to boost the price to 7/5; the Whites have been creating plenty but have a poor shot conversion rate so a thumping is unlikely.

  • Chelsea vs Sunderland
  • Saturday, 15:00

Key stat: Only Manchester City (34) have earned more home points in the Premier League in 2025 than Chelsea (33).

Suggested bet: Chelsea have won four games in a row in all competitions, scoring 11 and conceding just two, and are heavy odds-on to beat a Sunderland side who've had a great start to the season, but pick up most of their points at home (10 of 14). The Mackems have been very solid, only conceding six goals in their eight games, so we'll repeat the trick from the Friday game and boost the home win to an odds-against price by adding in Under 3.5 Goals.

  • Newcastle United vs Fulham
  • Saturday, 15:00

Key stat: Fulham have lost each of their last three Premier League games, while no side has kept more clean sheets in the league this season than Newcastle.

Suggested bet: Newcastle have only won two of their last 10 league matches but they should have more than enough in the tank to beat a Fulham side who've only mustered 23 shots on target all season (only Burnley and Sunderland have had fewer). Looking across all competitions, Eddie Howe's men have won three of the last four to nil, and the 13/8 on a repeat on Saturday is our selection for this one.

  • Manchester United vs Brighton
  • Saturday, 17:30
  • Live on Sky Sports

Key stat: Manchester United have lost six of their last seven league games against Brighton, but the Seagulls have only kept one clean sheet in their last 20 Premier League matches.

Suggested bet: Ruben Amorim finally managed to win consecutive matches, with Manchester United rewarding 11/2 backers at Anfield last Sunday, but Brighton are turning into a bogey team for the Red Devils and we will back them to get another positive result at Old Trafford in the Double Chance market. With neither side impressing defensively this season, we'll add in Over 2.5 Goals to take the price up to a very decent 21/10.

  • Brentford vs Liverpool
  • Saturday, 20:00
  • Live on TNT Sports

Key stat: Igor Thiago has scored five Premier League goals this season, with only Erling Haaland (11) and Antoine Semenyo (6) finding the net more often. He had six shots against West Ham on Monday night.

Suggested bet: Liverpool are odds-on to win in west London on Saturday night despite having lost four in a row in all competitions. Brentford battered West Ham in their last game, but the Hammers are a poor outfit so it's hard to read too much into that one, and we'll swerve the match odds here. Instead we'll back Bees frontman Igor Thiago to score again at a chunky 2/1; he's been a real handful in pretty much every game and tormented West Ham.

  • Bournemouth vs Nottingham Forest
  • Sunday, 14:00
  • Live on Sky Sports

Key stat: Forest have conceded the joint most goals in the second half of Premier League games this season (11), while nine of the 11 goals Bournemouth have conceded have come after the break.

Suggested bet: With Sean Dyche now in the Forest dugout, it was very tempting to have a straightforward bet on Under 2.5 Goals but the players probably have twisted blood from the 180 degree turns they have been taking in playing style and it may take some time for the former Burnley man's methods to take effect. With the stats pointing so strongly to action after the break, we'll back more goals in the second 45 at 11/10.

  • Arsenal vs Crystal Palace
  • Sunday, 14:00
  • Live on Sky Sports

Key stat: Arsenal have faced the fewest shots (65), fewest shots on target (18), the lowest xG (4.8) and conceded the fewest goals (3) in the Premier League this season.

Suggested bet: They might not be the most entertaining side in the world, but Arsenal have been ruthlessly efficient this season, winning games without as little fuss as possible. Palace continue to perform well but, in contrast to the Gunners, have been pretty inefficient, with no side having missed as many 'big chances' as defined by Opta (22). We'll back the Gunners to win to nil here at an odds-against price.

  • Aston Villa vs Manchester City
  • Sunday, 14:00
  • Live on Sky Sports

Key stat: Erling Haaland has scored in each of his last five away Premier League appearances for Manchester City, and eight of his last 10 goals have been the opener in a match.

Suggested bet: The only thing more predictable than a low-scoring Arsenal win in the Premier League at the moment is an Erling Haaland goal. The Norwegian has already scored a ridiculous 24 goals in all competitions for club and country and has a welcome habit of opening the scoring. With Haaland now into odds-on territory to score anytime, we'll back him to nab the first goal at 9/4.

  • Wolves vs Burnley
  • Sunday, 14:00
  • Live on Sky Sports

Key stat: Wolves have won just one of their last nine Premier League games against Burnley, but the Clarets have won none of their last 14 games against non-promoted teams in the top flight.

Suggested bet: Wolves remain winless in the Premier League after defeat at Sunderland last time out and face a Burnley side who recorded an impressive win over Leeds. Scott Parker's team have done their best work at home this season but can certainly hold Wanderers here - the draw looks a solid play at 23/10 but we'll take a swing at the 1-1 correct score, with neither side looking impregnable or free scoring.

  • Everton vs Tottenham
  • Sunday, 16:30
  • Live on Sky Sports

Key stat: Although they've only lost one of their last 12 Premier League away games against Everton, Spurs are winless in their last six visits to the Toffees.

Suggested bet: Tottenham have the best away record of any team in the league this season, picking up 10 of their 14 points on their travels, and it's clear Thomas Frank's pragmatic style is better suited to games away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Spurs have drawn five of their last six trips to Everton and another stalemate looks the most likely result, with the Toffees yet to face defeat at the Hill Dickinson. We'll take the 23/10.
