Premier league predictions

Myself and Nick had a pretty horrific weekend when it came to our Premier League predictions, while Simon was able to pluck out two correct scores. Is the comeback on?

The three of us have put together our latest Premier League predictions below for Gameweek 23.

West Ham vs Sunderland - 1-1 @ 5/1

West Ham picked up a valuable three points at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. Callum Wilson was the hero after reports suggested his contract was going to be terminated this month, but that looks to have been quashed for now.

The Irons host Sunderland on Saturday as the Black Cats look to build on their home victory over Crystal Palace. Their home form has been a lot better than how they have fared on their travels, and I think a confidence-boosted West Ham are good for a point here.

Nick: 1-2

Simon: 1-1

Burnley vs Spurs - 1-1 @ 11/2

Thomas Frank is under increasing pressure at Tottenham, but a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Uefa Champions League came at a good time for the Dane. A trip to struggling Burnley awaits on Saturday, and this is going to be a tough match.

The hosts may not be good value for a win, seeing as they are 13 matches without a win, but they have drawn with Liverpool and Manchester United in the previous two weeks.

Nick: 2-1

Simon: 0-2

Premier League Odds

Fulham vs Brighton - 2-2 @ 11/1

Fulham will be looking for a response against Brighton & Hove Albion at Craven Cottage, having suffered a narrow defeat at Leeds United last time out.

The Cottagers are unbeaten in their past four home games in all competitions, while Brighton have drawn three of their last four fixtures in the top flight, including both of their recent away trips.

Nick: 1-1

Simon: 1-2

Man City vs Wolves - 2-1 @ 8/1

Manchester City have won just one of their past seven matches in all competitions. They were beaten by rivals Manchester United in the league last week, and on Tuesday, they lost 3-1 at Bodo/Glimt in the Champions League.

The Citizens are in need of rediscovering their form, or the title race will slip away from them. They welcome a resurgent Wolves to the Etihad on Saturday. Had this been at Molineux, I'd have backed the Old Gold to get something, but the hosts should be able to edge this contest - because they really need to.

Nick: 3-1

Simon: 1-1

Bournemouth vs Liverpool - 2-2 @ 11/1

AFC Bournemouth earned a respectable point at Brighton on Monday, and the Cherries are now two games unbeaten in the top flight. They host Liverpool on Saturday, with the Reds dropping more points last weekend as they were held to a draw at home against struggling Burnley.

Liverpool have drawn four consecutive matches in the Premier League, and I can see this trend continuing in Dorset.

Nick: 1-3

Simon: 1-2

Brentford vs Forest - 2-0 @ 17/2

Brentford have been most impressive when playing at home this season, and it has been the foundation of their rise to seventh in the table. The Bees have won four of their last six games in the top flight ahead of their home clash with Nottingham Forest.

They were beaten 3-1 by the Tricky Trees at the City Ground at the start of the season, but a lot has changed for both teams since then. Forest are fresh off a trip to Braga on Thursday in the Uefa Europa League, so I think Brentford will be able to profit against some tired legs.

Nick: 2-1

Simon: 1-0

Palace vs Chelsea - 1-1 @ 6/1

Crystal Palace's January is getting worse. Boss Oliver Glasner is leaving at the end of the season and has called out the lack of investment in the team, they've lost captain Marc Guehi, while Jean-Philippe Mateta is now seeking a swift exit.

All of this while being on a seven-game winless streak in the Premier League. The Eagles welcome Chelsea to Selhurst Park, and the Blues travel here winless in their previous five road trips in the league.

A draw seems probable on this occasion.

Nick: 1-2

Simon: 0-3

Newcastle vs Villa - 2-1 @ 7/1

Newcastle United have lost just three of their 17 home games in all competitions this season. The Magpies host title-chasers Aston Villa at St. James' Park on Sunday, with the home side having won three of their last four league matches.

Villa were beaten at home by Everton last time out, which led to boss Unai Emery losing his cool somewhat in his post-match interview. The Villans have now just won one of their past four fixtures in the top flight, and I think they may falter again as they head to Tyneside.

Nick: 3-1

Simon: 2-2

Football Odds

Arsenal vs Man United - 3-1 @ 11/1

Arsenal have played out goalless draws in their last two league games against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. The Gunners are fortunate that both Man City and Villa lost last week, but they could have strengthened their advantage at the summit.

Mikel Arteta's side welcome Man United to the Emirates, with the Red Devils looking to build on last week's derby day victory. The visitors can make life difficult for Arsenal, but on home soil, with a strong performance needed, I think the hosts will step up.

Nick: 2-1

Simon: 2-0

Everton vs Leeds - 1-1 @ 5/1

After winning at Villa, Everton will look to make it two wins on the spin when they entertain Leeds at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday. The Toffees have failed to win in their past four matches here in all competitions, while Leeds have lost just one of their previous five competitive fixtures on the road.

The visitors have been impressive in recent months, and I think they can pick up another valuable point here.
